Little Wins

I wrote a blog about a month ago about my younger girl (16) not talking to me. I was just wanting to update. Last weekend we had a group camping trip with our church and she came!!! I was so happy. She seemed to be doing really well and I think we broke the ice. We got back on Sunday and she went back to her moms house. Naturally she spent her time hanging out with other girls her age, but I was so happy to see her smiling face!!

The next day I got some sad news that my uncle had passed away from covid, and I got myself together to drive 14 hours to attend his funeral. All of it was very difficult for me. I wanted to be there for my cousins since they had lost their father so quickly. It was very unexpected. It became a rough week of driving and mourning.

But the bright light was that my younger girl sent me a very long and thoughful text after she found out. It really made my week!! And it was a bad week. It was so sweet.

When I did finally get home last night after everything, my other daughter (18) was at our house. She was snuggled into our bed on my side of the bed (she is so cute). I was afraid I would miss her before she went back to her moms house, but there she was. She was like a ray of sunshine.  We talked and laughed. It was great!!

Anyway, I know that there are ups and downs, but right now I a celebrating the ups!  My uncle would totally unnderstand that. He lived life to the fullest and in the fast lane!! A very positive and special man.

And on a side note, my awesome and wonderful husband cleaned the house from top to bottom (even the laundry) while I was gone. He even did windows, fans, blinds, etc. When I walked through the door, it smelled fabulous, and it looked cleaner than I have ever seen it.

To all-celebrate the little things in life as though they were the big things.

It's good to read a good story on Steptalk.  Thanks for sharing!
