YSS THANKED ME...And other Spring Break musings...

That's right, folks! YSS, who used to fight EVERYTHING I or DH made him eat, THANKED ME for a meal! He actually said thank you and showed appreciation for making him a separate meat because he didn't like the one I made for everyone else (in all fairness, it was a tray of Oncor Salisbury steak, so it's not like I put a lot of effort into it).

AND he didn't fight me when I told him he needed to pick a fruit and vegetable to eat with dinner!

Shok

Though, he did forget to shower and brush his teeth unless reminded, and he didn't get all his reading done. However, I will take what victories I can get, especially after they stayed with us for a week.

Other musings from Spring Break week:

- Took the SSs to a trampoline park that had dodgeball because they wanted to play dodgeball. No crying from anyone except me, who nearly broke her leg falling off a warped wall. Woops.

- Had to buy a new washer and dryer yesterday. The boys washed their clothes, put them in the dryer, and...nothing. Sighs all around. We bought new ones, and DH is patiently waiting at home today to have them installed. We knew this was going to happen soon; I was just hoping it would hold out until summer. Oh well.

- The boys actually did chores. I had to ask them to do them, and they weren't done to my standard, but again, little victories.

All in all, it was good. Of course, there is still drama brewing below the surface, but DH is staying out of it with BM. It makes me nervous that I know things are happening but I don't know what specifically, but I am trying to let it go. DH and I have already said we won't help her if she gets herself in a bind, and we just need to stick to that. She is a big girl, and she can sort out her own money/boy/home trouble.

Did you stand there with your mouth open, catching flies, for a bit?
Did you get lightheaded and need to sit down?
Did you think you were hallucinating/dreaming?

IMHO, that's what most of us hope - that a day will come when our efforts are finally appreciated! Yahoo

I did look at him and say, "who are you and what have you done with YSS?" He didn't appreciate that.

Lol

Really, my issues are usually with BM and BM/DH's choices in parenting. The kids are usually fine, minus typical kid stuff that makes you want to pull your (or their) hair out. They still have a lot of growing up to do that I don't think BM or DH correctly address, but that is a "not my monkey" situation.

Meh, too bad if he didn't appreciate it. Too many kids these days have too few manners. He'll get over it.

We've had some atypical kid stuff, but BioHo has been the biggest problem for us.
