BM keeps getting dumber and some O/T updates
I still read everyday and try to show support when I can but haven't posted for a bit.
So BM is finally seeing the effects of randomly taking the girls out of school . Jk - the kids are. My husband started giving SD9 and SD6 money for good grades. SD9s report card went from close to all As to one A and all C's. We magically never get SD6s report card. I'm going to guess not because of grades but because of the comments about missing school that SD9s already has
( Before anyone asks) there is no legal agreement and I've stopped bothering him to ask at this point. He knows that if that bites him in the ass it's on his account entirely and I'm done playing games. I've been on this site since I was a happy young twenty something and boy it's way easier to throw in that towel.
But the kids came over today and both told me they really want to study and hit their goals to land dream jobs like an astronaut or artist . It's a little sad a woman nearly 50 is keeping them away from school but I can only do what I can here and I've made peace with it
Some off topic updates : we decided to buy our condo. The deal he made was beyond fair and this thing will be a great investment as our area is in the top ten for uhauls moving one way survey. Rentals have sky rocketed and even being conservative it will be the right play. We may even buy a house 2023 maxing on 2024
My mom is in rehabilitation and was making excellent strides until she was diagnosed with covid then sent to hospital. She had to wait for 8 hours for a room by herself in her bed with limited speech. I'm not mad at the hospital system just imagining that is terrifying. Turns out she had pneumonia not covid but they had to use her trach meaning all of the time she was relearning speech may have meant nothing. My mom is there in the head just can't properly communicate and she still smiles the way she used to when she was "done with this shit" . My family found out she had a DNR after all this drama so more emotional weight put on to my sister for trying to save her
Long rant and I hope everyone had a decent holiday. Valentine's is coming- yikes

I am glad that my kids aren't
I am glad that my kids aren't in school yet because this pandemic has really set school age kids back.
SD14 used to be good at school, though even prior to the pandemic being used to take her out of school periodically to go on vacations. She thought it was perfectly acceptable for her to miss a week of school for them to go to the Bahamas or something. Now with the pandemic she only sends SD to school whenever it suits her and she is not making sure that she's doing the remote learning. They still pretty regularly go on vacations in the middle of the school year.
I've noticed a shift in her attitudes lately. When she was younger and still doing well in school her ambitions were to just be famous, her idols were reality TV stars like the Kardashians. Now that she's not doing as well in school she has more ambition but less drive. Her grades are failing she seems to not really have much interest in school or being successful but now she wants to be a doctor or a scientist or an astronaut. At 14 she's starting to get into the make or break portion of her schooling and if she really has these ambitions she's going to have to take some of the more advanced classes and show more drive to learn rather than to just get things done.
For my senior year of high school there was only one class that was actually required, English. For those that lacked ambition they took a bunch of easy classes, for the kids that had a plan they took the more advanced classes and college prep or they did a half day of trade school. SD has talked about graduating early. At first my DH was proud of her thinking that she was so accelerated that she would be able to graduate early but after talking to her for a bit we realized that she was just going to graduate early after doing the bare minimum.
If you ever feel like
If you ever feel like stirring a pot you could always ask to speak to the school districts truancy officer and see what you can do to "assist" them in holding BM accountable!
I'm so sorry about your mom, that had to be a horrible experience for everyone!
Good to see your updates
Sd15 thinks she wants to be a scientist and do bloodwork and study to the point of going to med school type places. Shes got a low c average, but A and B in science classes.
All we can do is be supportive from a distance.
Good for you for investing in property...our area was super hot and now its ridiculously high. We got ourt house from and 'inside deal' so its half the price of anything and everything in our area.
Sorry to hear about your mom. Sending prayers her way.
