Food irritations

Ladystark's picture

Loud chewers do not really bother me.

People who try to eat and talk get on my nerves a bit.

People who chew with their mouths open bother me for sure!

Why does ss13 have to have all of these wonderful quailites??

I hate watching him eat, i like when he comes down after ive finished eating!!

We had chinese food tonight- which we all love.

And as soon as dh walked in door he was at the table, which has not happened in awhile!

Which reminds me why i like when he comes down later!!

God-- he practically shoved the whole egg roll in his mouth, and was going to try and chew it, dh stopped him and he sort of cut it in half, ugh i hate when he does that he looks like he is chewing and choking at the same time!! His eyes get all big and it looks like the food is going to come back out! Every place is different- but this place has pretty big chicken chunks in the orange chicken. So to eat them you "should" cut them in half, but of course not ss- every piece was shoved in, and as he is trying to chewy it- huge wide eyes!! Dh says stuff to him, but he still does it!

Then he wipes his fingers on his shoulders(we give him napkins, dh hates that he does that, but nothing we do stops him, he eats or licks his fingers then wipes them on the shoulder of his shirt. We got on him big time last year because he had stains on his shoulders!! Like use the BOTTOM of the shirt so noone sees your food streaks!!

Man i was excited about chinese too, we have not had it in awhile, and i ate a little after he left but i might have to enjoy it tomorrow!

Absolutely disgusting. SD picks at her food and eats like a bird. She is 12 and still wipes her hands on her shirt despite being given a napkin and instructions NOT to wipe her hands on her shirt. Table manners were big in my home growing up as in no talking with a full mouth, no elbows on the table, etc. I hate going out to eat with SD because she is rude to waitstaff and acts like a 5 year old.

When I first met DH, SD had spent most of her time with BM obviously. She was allowed to crawl under the table and wall around the restaurant like she owned the place. We cut that crap out real quick. She will still order an adult meal and eat maybe half. She sometimes eats leftovers but not usually. Idk why DH allows that.

Omg!! Dh used to do that too!! Or let him order something he has NEVER eaten before- i mean what a gamble! It could be any where from 8-20 bucks gone, especially if dh or i did not like it, or would not eat it.

Not much of an issue now- i started asking questions- before he ordered and dh caught on, and now ss just orders what he knows he will eat- or he has to hear about it later!!

But yes even out he still wipes his fingers on his shoulders..ugh...

Dh allowed it because i dont think he knew how to get ss to order the right meal without upsetting him. And some of it was dh justifide it with - if ss does not eat it, i will, but then ss started liking onions because dh HATES onions, so that went out window- and the simple fact they cannot say NO.

Guilty dads. Smh.

The good thing is that SD still eats like she's 5 and refuses to try anything new. Poor kids don't have a chance if the parents won't step up.

SD orders off the kid's menu but almost never finishes more than half her meal. She ALWAYS insists we take the leftovers (even something like soggy pancakes) and she never eats them after the fact! They sit in the fridge for days. I have no clue why SO keeps going along with it.

May I suggest putting bibs on children who want to use their shirts as napkins? How about feeding them from dog bowls placed on the floor of the kitchen? If they are going to insist on eating like animals, may as well go with the flow and help them along.

I love dogs, your SD needs to be left out of dinner plans if she's going to be rude to waitstaff and act slightly older than a toddler. The first time she pulled the crap with me, she'd be ordered to sit in her seat, keep her mouth shut, and think about the yummy PB&J she's getting at home since her restaurant order was officially cancelled. If she can't act appropriately in a restaurant, then she doesn't need to be in one.

It was nipped in the bud immediately. She is rude to waitstaff such as not saying thank you or please or making eye contact. That to me is rude.

lol I still say she can stay at home until she learns those basic manners. Can you tell I have no patience for rude kids?

You had a child with him?!!

Omg, before i met dh- i went on a few dates, and one guy ate with his fingers, then licked them! We were not eating wings, or any type of finger food!! Wonder why ladies did not call him back..hhaha. i know i left and did not look back!!

I feel you pain lol

I absolutely can't stand bad table manners. SD9 is pretty bad....improving....but getting better. I dread going out to eat with her...so embarrassing. I nag SO to correct her bad behaviors to work in eliminating them.

What she does:
Chews with her mouth open and smacks her lips
Talks with food in her mouth.
Slurps her drinks
Would sit too far back or have her plate to far away on the table and make a mess
Wipes hands on cloths and the table cloth
Leaves lots of crumbs
Would never say please or thank you
Will double fist foot to her mouth . Imagine a French fry in each hand like a convert of belt of food - bite after bite.

She used to act like a baby when we went out . Would lie down in the booth or want to wander around . Cry like a baby when she didn't get her way. I told SO I was done going with if she continued to act that way.

I don't expect perfect table manners ...but ffs .....no one wants to eat with a feral child.

Another child who needs to be left at home until she learns at least basic table manners. Seriously. Left at home.

He should eat with no shirt on. The first time he globs gravy over his shoulder, I bet it wouldn't take too many times before he used a napkin.

Haha i would, but ss is not a "naked" kid, he has an outie belly button, and kids focused on it at a pool party and that was the end of shirtless ss! He was about 7. Then at 10 he stopped wearing shorts, he is very pale and his legs just show every bruise! Poor skinny guy. Summer and pool parties were rough for him...we are lucky he wears swim shorts, he looked for swim pants, but that is mostly wet suits.

So it be weird for me to "force" him to have his shirt off at dinner!! Lol

The bib route would be better for me!

I feel your pain. My SSs used to drive me crazy with all their many food "issues," from picky eating to ordering the most expensive dish on the menu and then eating only a small amount. The one I hated the most was, I had chair cushions custom made for our round kitchen chairs and oldest SS would, without fail, wipe his hands on the chair pads while eating greasy pizza!! I'd try to nicely suggest he use his napkin. Those were the days DH lived in fear of SSs not wanting to visit if anything slightly negative was said to them, so he didn't say much. And of course, despite all we did to cater to them, those days came anyway.
