Breaking the Addiction & Pi$$ed Off
I've been slowly and rather unsuccessfully breaking my blue screen, social media and "gotta have it today" mentality.
It started in September when I canceled my Amazon Prime account. Next, I stopped ordering from Amazon and instead used their platform to find stuff I wanted, sold by other stores, then I ordered the items DIRECTLY from the store.
I spend WAY too much time on the book of faces and finally had the courage to delete the app and messenger today.
I will never buy a Tesla - ever.
I don't care what your politics are when I tell you that my DS28 collects SSI, gets SNAP benefits and Medicaid, AND he is currently training for employment through a state program that most like receives federal funding. This momma bear has both her fangs and claws out.
I'm not rich and my disabled son NEEDS these benefits as we try diligently to get him trained and gainfully employed so that he can be independent and a contributing member of society.
I also have a son in law who is a DACA immigrant who is only protected by his marriage to my daughter - thank GOD!!
And I am a DEI representative at my job and I am about to write letters and emails to ALL of the companies who have dropped their DEI programs to let them know I will never buy another thing from them. DEI includes women, minorities and disabled people in addition to LGBTQ+.
I've been pissed off 10 ways to Sunday in the past week. What's going on is INSANITY!!
And just last night, a plane full of people crashed into the Potomac River just one hour from my house and our CIC suggested DEI was to blame.
My head is about to explode.

I never thought
You & I would be on the same page about much. Yet here we are. I have avoided most social media since the New Year. I did the same with Amazon & Prime. I'll buy a horse and buggy before I ever buy a Tesla. I've stopped shopping at Target & avoid all businesses that dropped their DEI policies. Costco here I come.
This isn't political--it's morally right.
The shortsightedness of ripping away funding for programs that allow people to live independently is beyond my ability to comprehend. So many working families don't make enough money to feed their families and rely on SNAP, so do many elderly people.
What does it say about a country that can take care of the poor in the week in the sick but chooses not to?
I live abt an hour south of Reagan. When I saw the news last nite my heart sank. I am not big on religion but I said a prayer for all those souls. I am so so so angry that it is being politicized in the complete absence of facts. I am tired of people who are ignorant of what DEI means immediately blaming it for all the "bad things". There are no free passes in qualifying as a pilot u either meet the standards or you don't. No one gets a free pass because of skin color or gender.
We can't let this wear us down or shut us up. I am going to advocate for basic human decency & kindness as much as I can. What a long year this week has been.
I have been sick with a nasty
I have been sick with a nasty cold the last couple of days, but that's on top of being sick to my stomach with all of these executive orders and nomination hearings. I just cannot believe that this is our reality.
I'm not a left winger. I was Libertarian and I voted for DJT the first time, much to my embarrassment. This 2nd term is just bizarro-land. Someone wake me up!
So many people do not understand that Medicaide and so many
So many people do not understand that Medicaide andother programs help so many people who are not "poor." Yes, we are definitely in bizarro-land!
I was livid about the pause
I was livid about the pause on federal assistance. What did anybody think would happen when you take trillions out of the economy? I don't think we've seen the end of it though.
Laying blame on political foes and policies for the air tragedy was despicable.
