I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

I just don't know what to do. I have an 11 year old step son that absolutely hates me and makes it clear everyday. He is rude, disrespectful, obnoxious, and he is the same way at school. He is also this way to my husband and my 2 children from a previous marriage. I fear he will be the demise of my marriage. My husband has full custody of him and his mother lives in Arkansas and sees him once a year if even that, so I never get a break from this. Does anyone have any advise for me. PLEASE???

Yes...first thing is remember you are the adult and he is the child...second thing is make sure your husband understands this is not acceptable and that if he won't do anything about it you will. Third, set up rules that will be enforced and met with dire consequences if not followed. Make sure that you and your husband come up with these rules and that you are both serious about following through on them and supporting each other...if not...your marriage will not last. You have other children to consider as well so this is something that you MUST deal with immediately for their sakes as well. Counseling and booze sold seperately Smile Good luck!

Does your DH handle his son?? I'm really just dumbfounded when I hear how children are ruling the house. I have to agree with everything fedupSD said. You and DH need to sit down and establish some house rules to be enforced, and you have to stick with the consequences for bad behavior.

If my children still act up after the consequences of their behavior are given, they get sent to their room to pout there. No toys, no video games, no t.v, if they want to be disrespectful, they can spend however many days talking to the walls of their bedrooms.

11 is old enough to understand the consequences of actions, so I can only echo what others have said. You & your DH need to tackle this together though, otherwise it will just put more strain on your relationship with SS if you're the one leading on discipline.
