YSS51 is DH's favorite child, by far.  He has always been proud of his handsome, athletic, witty son and could never stand to hear even the mildest negative comment about him.  I now have a mutually respectful relationship with YSS but I am not blind to his flaws.

It's a long story but YSS51 suffered a big business reversal that he is still recovering from.  During that period, he and his wife also separated.  So YSS owns no home (living in a series of B&Bs), is driving a leased car and still has creditors chasing him.  But he is a successful salesman and he's a good father to 3 girls ranging from 13-22.

A little bird told me that YSS has been on the dating sites but apparently, many women (wisely) dont want to connect with a man with kids (can you imagine that).  But he has finally found someone and, unusual for him since he guards his privacy, raved about her to his brother and even sent a picture.  When DH heard, he was ecstatic, imagines an imminent wedding and happily ever after scenario.

When DH and I discussed, I mentioned how hard step situations are (she also has 3 girls).  He agreed and I said that altho YSS is kind and funny, once the honeymoon phase is over, GF might have a problem with YSS having no home, no car and lots of debts.  I also mentioned his 3 "Daddy's girls" and how they might react.  YSS is also a major clean freak and it would be interesting to see how that flies with 3 unknown kids.

This is all premature speculation, they might even already be broken up but I'm getting the popcorn ready, just in case.
