Not a good day for me.
I joined this site today, because I need somewhere to vent my frustrations. I know that complaining won't change things but it does help to get it out and not keep it bottled up inside.
Today, two things happened that reminded me just how worthless I am as a "parent".
First, I had a discussion with my husband about R. needing contacts. He decided that I should buy two boxes which should last him until he goes for his next eye exam in May. I made the comment "As long as he doesn't loose any." To which my husband accused me of being cruel and mean by assuming that I can see into the future and predicting that R was going to do something that hasn't happened yet. I was just being realistic. We don't keep that close of tabs on the contact supply and R has admitted to having lost contacts at least 2 if not more times. What I was saying is that if he looses any contacts then they won't last to his next eye exam. Period. Just an observation, not meant to be an attack.
This next event requires some explanation. This year, it was decided by my husband to get laptops for Christmas. One for "the family" and one for me, because I spend a lot of time on Facebook. My husband isn't on the computer much, which is why he said that he and Ryan could share one. The main purpose in getting laptops was to be able to use them on vacations or when we are on the road.
We opened the laptops on Christmas and since then my husband has not used the "family" laptop. It is now, R's laptop. A few weeks after getting the laptops I noticed that R was using the regular computer and I asked him where the laptop was and he said it was at his mom's.
Later, I talked with Matt about the fact that I wasn't comfortable with him taking the laptop over there. Matt blew it off and said it was no big deal.
Well, it hasn't even been two months yet, and tonight R informed us that his mom accidentally broke the laptop screen. After watching a movie on it, she put it under the couch which also had a fold out bed. She then forgot it was under there and folded the bed up, breaking the screen with the bed frame.
I realize that this was an honest mistake, however, I had voiced my concern about the computer being over there in the first place, and had my opinion been considered the laptop would still be in working order. Because when it is in our house, it is not being stored under furniture. It sits on a desk in R's bedroom.
