O/T fake ads

HappyLittleTree's picture

I've noticed since I've been back that a few of the ads are actually fake virus warnings. Does anyone else get that? I'll be minding my own business reading a blog and up pops an ad that says I have 4 viruses on my phone. I know it's an ad because it normally goes through 3 or for pages amd the first one is always "adclicker" or similar.

ARRGGG!! It is the SAME thing on my phone!

I was going to have my IT guy look at it. I cant get it off unless I get completely out of the site and then get back in. It is driving me bonkers! Any way to get it to stop?

I just go to a different blog or page but it happens so often I just leave the site and come back later. It also makes it hard to post anything long.

If you do get a fake virus warning and to call some 800 number, If you are using edge as a browser you can simply close that tab.

If you are using IE11, you can just delete the metadata for that date:

c:\users\[your profile]\appdata\local\Microsoft\internet explorer\domstore

For firefox:

C:\Users\[your profile]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[file with today's date]\storage\permanent\chrome
