1st court date over.
They went to their initial hearing and it sounds like things went well. DH, every once in a while, mentions something new that happened like, "Oh yeah, she asked to have SS14 for the whole time while we wait until the final decision and the magistrate said, no, you have to stick to the court order." The magistrate threatened to put in a court order to make SS14 go to counseling when she said she wasn't sure if she could take him. The magistrate said she is not allowed to talk bad about DH and I in order to try to convince SS14 to hate us. I'm sure she'll keep it up.
The next step is that BM is supposed to file (in the next 5 days) for an investigator to come to our houses and talk with us. It will cost her and DH $1,000 each. I seriously doubt that she'll file, but I hope she does!!! DH was humble about it, but it REALLY sounds like the magistrate caught on pretty quick to BM's crazy. I guess they asked her how she pays her bills if she has absolutely $0 in income and she said her BF pays all her bills. She told them she was disabled (hearing loss) and they asked her for paperwork, she said she's working on it---LOL!!! yeah right, people with hearing loss are able to get jobs, my stepmom can't even hear out of her right ear and she seems to be able to function normally.
If she doesn't file for the investigator then they have to go to mediation. This is all so great because it will take months!!! In the meantime, SS14 is starting high school and she'll NEVER be able to get him to school at 7:10 in the morning. She'll text DH and say, "I'm dropping SS off on Sunday because I'm too sick to take him to school this week," or we'll get a text, "My BF is sick so I am going to bring SS home out of concern for him." and we'll have all THAT evidence. Or she'll call SS in sick and then we can call CPS on her. It sucks for SS14 for a bit, but soon he'll be with us 90% of the time and getting the help that he needs to get his act together. The good news on his front is that he is totally into football and has never like playing sports before. She will probably not take him to some of his practices (lazy b**ch) but he'll probably do well until they give him to us with a court order that she let him play sports.
