So, SS12's English teacher e-mailed DH and the BM and told them she, and the rest of the staff, want to have a meeting about him on October 10 at p/t conferences. My guess is that, since he's basically been behind in school ever since, like, week 1.5, they're probably ready to kick him out of gifted/talented. That's what DH thinks, too. This will probably be devastating to BM, according to DH, who apparently hangs her entire parental reputation on having a g/t kid (which has nothing to do with her), but I say it's natural consequences. If he's not going to do the work to stay in g/t, he has no business being there. DH's twisted logic makes him think that kicking SS12 out of g/t would send the message that it's okay to be lazy, but I had to explain to him that if they let him STAY in g/t, it would send the message that it's okay to be lazy. Like, hey, you're not working that hard, but we'll give you many chances to stay in g/t anyway. I think they'll probably put him on academic probation or something, but another part of me thinks they probably already did, and BM just neglected to mention it to DH, since she's known for doing that. If that's the case, when DH finds out about it, the shit is going to hit the fan BIG TIME because DH is tired of her "forgetting" to tell him stuff. I guess only time will tell, really, I could be totally wrong and it could actually be about something else...but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
