annoying step kids
My wife and I have her kids half the time. Unfortunately, we have her kids before and after school bevause we are both teachers and her ex wirks longer hours. They get dropped off at 730 until 8 and they are so annoying. I time it so I eat my breakfast before they arrive and time it so I can go shave when they walk in. They come in super loud (10 and 15). We have 6 cats and they have to do this super annoying cat baby talk. My wife does it too but she isnt so loud and obnoxios about it. I came out at 740 and left at 755. I heard at least 12 yells of "mom," in that time. Her 10 year old knows elf on thr shelf isnt real but insists his mom does it. She tries to get me involved but this kid is alrready babied enough. It is my last day before vacation and those 15 minutes really negatively impact me.

It sounds like you've been
It sounds like you've been unhappy in/with this situation for a while now, kind of like you're the third wheel. Unless you can assert the fact that you live there, too, with words (perhaps) like, "Hey, let's try to be a little quieter here during the mornings" and handling the son's issues with going to bed, you'll need to decide how to deal with this (ignoring, letting go of anger) for at least the next 8 years. Or change the situation and become "Always First" with someone else.,
It would be really hard for me (unbearable) to be around kids I really didn't like.
Get up earlier
And be doing something else when the kids get there. That up the weather. Weather forecasting. And go somewhere like the basement and work in the world's problems. Better to lose some sleep then be upset . I used to go into work a 1\/2 hours early to beat the traffic... relax drunk my coffee abd read the bewspaper. Better then sitting in traffic.
mastered that
I could write a book on finding other stuff to do. I time it so I am in the bathroom shaving. I drive her daughter to school since I teach there so I cant leave early.
What Harry said
What Harry said
Oh, you can tell them to keep it down too.
Early, early, into my step parent life, I was of the mind set that Step parents should NOT correct poor manners, or poor behavior etc. THAT didn't last long.
BM let them run ragged without any guardrails. They ran the landscaping in neighbors yards, businesses. Jumped on our furniture. DH constantly undoing what bm said was normal for kids. Every time they were with us we had to correct the behaviors BM allowed. We both did and I have no regrets. Thank GOD my dh and I were and still are on the same page about most, if not ALL things.
YOUR HOME YOUR RULES
When they are too loud and acting UP, tell them calming to stop. "we do not behave that way in OUR home". Then walk away and let your wife take over.
