OT- hipocrisy of healthcare debate

Why are so many against the govt making an individual purchase healthcare, withthe thought that it is unconstitutional yet most see no problem with an NCP being made to pay healthcare? Divorce is legal, yet once you are divorced your constitutional rights are no longer "guaranteed". Now you can kill someone, but as long as you are not divorced, you cannot be made to pay your own healthcare? Drugs are illegal, but if you take drugs you cannot be forced to puchase healthcare? I am always amazed by the hipocrisy of this.

Maybe what the govt should do is mandate ALL parents to provide their OWN insurance for their kids.

I like the comparison.

BlueBelle, the courts are part of the govt...the federal govt made this law that the courts enforce...not sure how youcan seea difference...

It is a federal law...you can find it in the federal govt'schild support website. In the texas state cs statutesit is also there under child support. I'd postthe sitebuti 'm ona nook... Wink

i'm in MI. my ex is supposed to have insurance on bd, but never has. he just keeps racking up a bill for not doing what he's supposed to. he's already 18k in the hole. he's probably stupid enough to believe that when she's 18 next year, the debt magically disappears...

But if the parents "can't pay", they already are eligible for free healthcare or at least very reduced through the states. How would they pay more now? If the parentscan pay, they will be made to do so...
