School uniforms
Not that it's been nagging me so much I had to post at this god early/late time, but I can't sleep so figured I'd post.
My SS is supposed to start school this September. His mother has said that since it's "more conveinent for her", SS will be going to the neighborhood school nearest her. Yes that school is probably half as good as our neighboring school, but as I've learned I can't fight that. It's up to those people called his parents to decide what will happen with him. Though that's not the point of this little post.
I'm wondering if we offer to pay for any of his school stuff or just let his mom handle it all. She wants to be the one calling the shots so maybe we actually make her use that child support for the child instead of her gas and cell phone bill. I was about to go crazy getting stuff but the more I think about it, I'm thinking well just be setting ourselves up for failure by getting him everything or half.
I would and im sure my husband is going to get guilted into buying something for SS. Maybe we can just pack a bookbag up with school supplies and thatll be cheaper than trying to get him uniform clothes.
What do you guys think?

If you think DH is going to
If you think DH is going to get guilted into buying something anyway, go ahead and decide now what you're willing to buy and state it as a fact. For me, as a BM and SM, I find that, if I know I'm going to have to do something I don't want to do, at least let me control which something.

I would duplicate his
I would duplicate his required school supplies and keep them at your home. Then there is no excuses for not doing homework. Or if he needs certain items when at your place you can 'ta da!' hand them over and mention "I like to have stuff put aside for later."
Also start collecting the "box tops for education" . His school is bound to collect them and when the time comes and he asks for them you can hand them over to him .... if you want to.
CS covers all school related
CS covers all school related costs unless otherwise stipulated in the CO.
In fact, CS covers all NCP support obligations to their children unless otherwise stipulated in the CO. Regarless of how low that CS obligation may be.
I am married to the CP in our blended family sitaution and though I would have loved to bend my SS's SpermIdiot over for an insane amount of CS rather than the pittance he was ordered to pay ($110/mo for a year, $133/mo for 9 years, $380/mo for 7 years), I fully recognize that the NCPs generally get hosed in Custody/Visitation/Support cases.
For that reason, I believe that CS and only CS should be paid by the NCP unless they specifically chose to pay for specific additional items on an adhoc basis.
IMHO of course.
Purchase clothes and school
Purchase clothes and school supplies for your house only. That way when he is with you, you have one less battle to fight.
