"Is that Mommy?" GRRRRR
We're trying this new thing where FDH waits until FSD3 is settled in bed before calling me at night to talk. Seems he hasn't gotten the hang of it quite yet.
Tonight's special flavor of hell is where he's been trapped with her all day because -- surprise! -- it wasn't a yeast infection, it was a urinary tract infection CAUSED BY POOR HYGIENE which BM left un-delt-with to the point where FDH had to take off work to take her to the doctor for more antibiotics. This results in him feeling the KEEN need to talk to me as he hasn't had adult conversation all day. HOWEVER, he calls me and FSD3 immediately GETS OUT OF BED begins chanting "Is that Mommy? Is that Mommy? Is that Mommy?"
And he said, "No, it's Miss Know It All."
And then she says, "Nu-uh! It's MOMMY. I KNOW IT'S MOMMY!"
I tried to keep cool. I told him I knew there wasn't anything he could do about it, but what she was saying was making me angry. And when he put her back in bed and resumed talking to me, she got up again and started interrupting our conversation with questions like "Who is that? Who are you talking about? Why are you mad? Is that Mommy?!"
I told him to hang up and call me back when she was ACTUALLY in BED. I'm probably going to catch heat for this if and when he does call me back tonight.

Nope, no heat. Just an
Nope, no heat. Just an understandable rant about how it's not fair that he has to watch FSD3 on BM's days when he apparently does (?!) pay her a ton of child support.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised about the child support revelation (he'd previously told me he didn't have to pay any -- which is true, but in mediation, he agreed to pay the maximum to BM because he "wanted to be nice"). Surprisingly, I'm not angry that he shells out massive CS. It gives him a legitimate reason to be angry when BM uses him as free daycare and it gives me the future bargaining chip of "don't spend more on FSD3 than on our bios -- that's what the CS is FOR". Also, because it was voluntary and not mandatory through the state, she has shaky grounds on which to fight him if he DOES knock off some of the money for all the days she makes HIM take off work to watch FSD3 on sick days because BM doesn't want to cut into her pay to do it. He's made up his mind to inform BM that this is what will happen from now on if she EVER has to call him or his mother to go get FSD3 from school/daycare when it's on BM's time.
*sigh* I foresee a court battle, if not for custody, then assuredly for CS. FDH doesn't. But then, he didn't see the divorce coming, either...
If your FDH is anything like
If your FDH is anything like mine, he doesn't like to have to think too far ahead. Dealing with today and tomorrow is as much as he wants to worry about. :/
