emotional roller coaster/anyone else on this ride?

Does anyone else have this problem?
I feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster.
My stepkids come over every other weekend (Thursday to Monday) and act as if they absolutely love me. They laugh with me, hug me, call me mom etc etc.
Then when we see them in public with their mom, they BARELY speak to me and do their best to ignore me?
So, they come over and I actually have to get myself mentally ready for this because my house goes from being calm to roudy. Plus I know that I'm going to get attched to them and I'm going to feel sad when they leave on Monday. But then I see them and I am completely ingored. Then the cycle starts all over again.
I know that a lot of it has to do with BM giving them the guilt trip about being loving towards me. I've been the bigger person and just deal with it but I'm so tired. Sad

I can understand you frustration, but look at the bright side -you have a good relationship w the SKs!! Better to have them be nice to you and show you they care sometimes than always treat you like dirt! I don't know how old they are but it can be very difficult for them w BM and they are just trying to deal. At least they aren't a pain in your ass every time they come to your home and you don't have to hide out in your bedroom like a lot of step parents here!! Hopefully as they get older their reaction toward you in front of BM will change Smile

They could be feeling awkward about how to act with their mom around - like they are betraying her or something (whether or not she's ever said anything to make them think that way.)I think the best thing to do is to understand how they feel, as long as they aren't rude about it. Smile
