Licepocalpse 2020

We have had to deal with lice SO many times because of BM1.

She had not seen SS in almost 7 months. We have not been going anywhere because of COVID and he is the only one who has stayed anywhere since March.

guess where he was 14 days ago? BM1's of course!

So SS15 gets lice. Then DD5 and then yours truly gets them before anyone notices anything is up.

But we aren't the only ones-SD10 also got them and sent BM2 into one. Lice suck-I get it-but she paid someone $300 to comb SD out, was told to kee coming her 2x daily after that AND they had to go back again yesterday so they could go "strand by strand" because apparently a professional isn't a 1 and done kind of thing like she was hoping.

I told her not to waste her money. I offered to show her how. I feel bad this effected her too but *shurgs* happens. I have been treating my 2 and myself daily, doing all the cleaning and all the crap that comes with it. Except I didn't waste $300 for the exact same result. I don't even really know what the "professiona" did for her other than waste her money. i also didn't offer to pay half because that's really really unnecessary and I've successfully treated lice 6 times (not counting this occurnace because we've still got 2 weeks before it's considered "cured") over the past 8 years.

oy.

The lice alone will drive you nuts (but after this many rounds-I have a system-how sad is that?) but add 2 BM's into the mix-and Distinguished Guests-I give you the 9th circle of hell.

I mean... I am surprised the kid even wants to go visit his mom if he always ends up with lice. Gross. Does she ever get rid of them?

She sees him so infrequently and rarely at her own house for any length of time-this happens approx once a year. It's been 2 years since this happened last and idk if she ever gets rid of them or not. I can't imagine with a 5 year old in head start herself that they go untreated and unchecked for years on end. But we don't actually have to deal with her often enough to know if it's one continuous infestation or several. I do know she doesn't deal with it properly from when she had custody of SS years ago. She just puts olive oil in, combs once, shaved her kids heads and calls it a day. (That doesn't work reliably)

Next visit with BM (and even now as you're treating), sprinkle tea tree oil in SS's hair (before he goes) and the rest of the household's hair (when he returns). Tea tree oil works as a great lice repellent and treatment.

Clearly he needs to be checked and deloused immediately upon returning from BM's.
