Bills Bills Bills
My stepson came to visit us and hands my husband a bunch of envelopes. Husband opens them to find that they are medical bills for his son that have gone in to collections. One of the bills is hers, and the bill was addressed to him. She is no longer on his insurance, and the bill was recent. He asked her why he is listed on her patient bill and she says "It must be an oversight." I highly doubt that it was an oversight but her listing him as a responsible party when she goes to the doctor and fills out paperwork.
How do we handle this?!

OMG.. my DH's EX was famous
OMG.. my DH's EX was famous for taking the kids to the doctor and not telling us. Their order was that he would provide insurance coverage and that any out of pocket was split 50/50. Yet, she never would give us the bills and would only start the banshee cry when collectors started calling her.
Of course, there was the time she put my DH down as a responsible party yet used her address as the billing address and neglected to pass on those bills so they ended up on his credit report. I was able to get that straight.. but it was frustrating to have to do that.
In the end, we ended up paying for basically 100% of the out of pocket costs. With the BM it was just easier because she really was so bad with money and was always in and out of employment. It was better than going back to court and having lawyer bills to be honest.
She was just such a NASTY woman about it all though. It was all HER fault that these things ended in collection but somehow it was my DH's fault in her eyes...even when he had no idea these bills existed.
It got to the point once they were on my insurance that I would just call the doctor offices to pay the patient responsibility because it prevented the emergency explosion by the EX when the doctor wouldn't see one of the kids until the past due bill was paid. Another case where her actions really hurt the kids more than him.
You're correct. They each
You're correct. They each have 30 days to send each other any bills one or the other acquires. My issue is why is he showing up as a guarantor on her hospital visits?!? I know when I go in to see the doctor i fill out paperwork listing my husband as a secondary party....she still must be doing the same!
LOL BM puts our address as
LOL BM puts our address as her sons address at the hospital all the time. Thankfully DH hasn't been listed as guarantor. We did have a problem with BM switching our address to her address with the insurance company then she would flip that she got a mail with DHs name on it. Long story short this happened a few times but after explaining it over and over that SS cannot have his insurance as a different address then ours (Tricare wouldn't let it because we are all in the same city) she has finally stopped.
