So...DH tell me this morning that SS has "Captains Mass" tomorrow.

This is the third time for SS. I know it is a disciplinary review, but not much else.

Anyway...I asked why. This is the convo that follows...(I am not going to say what he did due to privacy)

ME: What did he do?
DH: He damaged some property. But he just did not see the sign. Now they may have to redo a lot of work because SS ruined it. Someone else told him to go through the door and the superiors really want SS to tell them who told him to go through the door. SS said he won't tell on anyone. SS is so great.
ME: So...the military is going to try and punish other people because SS did not see a sign?
DH: (Looking at me like I grew another head)...I don't know. I just told SS to take it like a man. It was his fault that he did not see the sign.
ME: Since he has been in so much trouble before, will it have any bearing on the outcome of this hearing?
DH: SS has not been in trouble in the military.
ME: (Now looking at DH like he grew another head out of his butt!) Are you kidding me? (Then I proceeded to count off what all SS has been in trouble for in the military)
DH: Oh..I forgot about all that.

WTH?

Does anyone know if there is a limit on captains mass?

UGH...I only have 4 more weeks until hurricane SS and BM are back in my life with a vengeance!

Don't know anything about Captain's mass but I just got a great idea! When the "wall of Gaylord" goes up you should hang on the wall the exact same sign they had on the property he plowed through!

In the military, it's called showing a pattern. And yes, disciplinary action can be cumulative; it's dependent on his unit and how his superiors view him whether they choose to pursue this as an individual issue or if they plan to use it to show a pattern of inability to adapt. And *that's* hit or miss. If he's pretty good buddies with them, they'll do their level best to sweep it under the rug.

Depends on the level of the Mast. I mean, (and not like you're going to get any details from your DH or your scumbag SS) usually when I think Captains Mast, I think Uniformed Code of Military Justice Non-Judicial Punishment. (AKA, an Article 15) This can range from extra duty to taking pay, to reduction in rank or all three. If it's low level enough, it only sticks around for as long as they're in the unit. If it's higher, it's on his permanent record.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he got shuffled out as unfit to serve in the next year or two. So what're you going to do when he tries to crash in your spare room for the rest of his life?

It's Captain's Mast, not mass

I'm clueless about any of this, but when I was reading at first I wasn't sure if he was going to church with his Captain or getting in trouble. LOL

I could be making this up but...

I think Captain's Mast was from waaaay back in the Navy, when the Captain was the lord and master of his vessel. The wrongdoers were brought up on deck in front of the Captain's court (once a week, once a month, whenever) in front of the mast. They were sentenced to bread and water in the brig, or lashes, or whatever. So going for punishment in the Navy turned into going to a Captain's Mast.

Funny Draco!

Doll...I am on the fence on this thing....on one hand, I hope they discipline the crap out of the boy. he gets away with so much. On the other hand...I pray they weep in under the rug and keep him in for several more good years.

NMC...Bite your tounge!!!!!

Lady...My Dh is a mumbler so its pretty good that I actually got mass out of mast! lol

My Nephew is going through this right now. He scratched the numbers off his ID so he could get in to bars. They don't take this stuff lightly. Sad He may not get to come home for Christmas now.
