only slightly annoyed...but annoyed nonetheless

is it too much to ask that BM buy clothes that are the right size?
ss8 wears a 2.5 shoe, BM buys 4-4.5
ss8 wears size 8 shorts/pants, BM buys 12-14/16
ss6 wears a 1.5-2, BM buys 3-3.5
ss6 wears 6-7 shorts/pants, BM buys 8-10

I'm all for letting kids grow into things, but this is never what BM does. BM parents are fairly well off and they live and breathe to shop, so skids are always getting new clothes & shoes before they ever have a chance to grow into the over-sized stuff.

It could be worse....sd13 wears shorts so small they look like panties. She's a stick figure with skeeter bites. She has no fat and almost no muscle. I'm not sure how she participates in swim or even dance.
But when she does...she's barely dressed. I know that it's a thing in our society for girls to dress skimpy but I think that you should TEACH your teen to respect her body. Not try to emulate a vs model.

And the only thing I see sd13 wear that is too big is the oversized vs shirts that her granny buys her!!

Sad
but back to your topic: my dil does sorta the same thing. I'll ask what size for my grand daughter and she'll tell me at least 1-2 sizes bigger. I'm annoyed that the clothes seem to be hanging off her all the time.
Then last time she sent her to visit, all her clothes were so small. I was super annoyed bc I'd just sent a huge box of new clothes. In the correct size. But none of them were sent to wear for the visit. Ugh!!

I agree, there are definitely two extremes.

when i see the skids after a weekend with BM they don't look like the polished little boys that DH and I know. Instead their pants/shorts are sagging, t-shirts are hanging down to their knees, shoes are massive, etc. And I don't imagine it is the kids choice to dress that way because when they are with us, they will make a comment if we lay out clothes and forget to pull out belts and we are always having to remind that not all shirts should be worn tucked in. In fact, the other day ss8 and I had a discussion about how if you're going for a more relaxed look it's okay not to tuck in a buttoned down shirt...he was adamant that I was telling him wrong...so obviously this kid is conscious of clothing and how he looks.

I understand what you mean...Are they clean??
When I go pick my SS9 up he has clothes on that are never the right size, shirts are to small and he is overweight so his stomach show every time he moves his arms and his pants are usually so big that he shows his butt crack. His shoes are always to small and he has had them forever. SS and clothes smell so bad when he gets to my house I have to put his clothes outside to air out and he goes straight to bath!!!

thankfully, they are always clean, which is one reason why we choose not to push the sizing issue.
