BF is finally doing his "job"

As most of you know, I have been doing 99% of the transporting of FSS1 for BF's parenting time. After the last weekend that we had him, I asked BF for his credit card so I could fill my truck up with gas to replace the gas I used to pick up and drop off his son. (60 miles one way). He refused and asked when I was going to pay my truck insurance. He has been paying the vehicle insurance since he owned all the vehicles. I bought my truck last month. We got into a huge disagreement over all this. I pointed out that I save BF money by transporting his child because I work part-time and it works with my schedule. If BF was to do all the transporting, he would have to take an hour off Friday to pick FSS1 up at the right time and go in 2 to 3 hours late EO Monday after dropping the child off. Basically, before gas it would cost BF about 80 bucks in wages and about 40 bucks for gas for both trips. So if you figure he fills my tank at about 40 bucks I save him 80 bucks each time I do all the driving. He still doesn't get it but he said he would do the driving this weekend and we would have FSS1 Friday to Sunday instead of Thursday to Monday like BM wanted. BF tried to get out of it last night but I have plans and he even tried to use my truck and I asked him why he needed my truck and he said "baby seat". The car seat has been sitting at the top of the steps (not in my truck) in the entryway for a week and a half so I could adjust the straps for FSS. I even packed the diaper bag for BF so he has no excuse for not going. I hope he remembered to take the stuff when he went to work this morning.

I am happy the I can go home after work and do my stuff and not worry about making dinner late or not spending time with my kids for FSS1 gets there.

Good for you. Force him to step up to the plate and be a father.

I am sure he understands the gas money, which is why he wanted to take your truck. I know gas prices are down right now but it is still much less expensive to take a car, if he has one.

He might not fully understand the hours he misses from work till he gets his next paycheck. I'd be sure to point it out if I were you.

You were doing him a big favor by picking up and dropping off FSS. Don't let him down play everything you do for them, he should be grateful you did it for as long as you did.

You know, it is amazing to me how these men think that what the sm does for the skids is just what she is suppose to do. It's bad enough because the skids usually think that way! The sms are suppose to be available for anyone who needs anything! GRRRRRR The thought should not even cross the sm's mind to NOT do it! I don't get it! What are they thinking? I hope that you stick to your guns about this!

I was working my work schedule around the Monday morning drop offs but in this economy, I have to take whatever job(s) I can get and not "choose" my schedule so to speak. I lost my awesome paying job in November and it was perfect. I could take FSS1 to work with me when we had him and I worked from home part fo the day so I could work naptime around my work time. I will never be so lucky again - unless I win the lottery!

I do pay for minor expenses for FSS1 like diapers, wipes, and food. FMIL takes care of the spendy stuff like car seat, high chair and clothes.
