We are currently trying to get our 20yr old sd20 emancipated so that she is able to get onto SSI. We went to court a year ago and the BM rejected the emancipation request and has asked for more money we are now paying $1100. more a month and are being told this will be for her life. She is a high functioning mentally handicapped with mosaic down syndrome. She was holding down a full time job when our first request went through but as soon as we tried to get her emancipated her mother took her out of work and said she is unable to work anymore.
I am just wondering if there are any others out there who are feeling like this is never going to go away.
