Approaching the end, I fear
I'll be as brief as possible.
My wife has a 26 year-old son, who doesn't work. She pays entirely for his living ($25-30K per year). During 2012 and 2013, owing to serious medical problems of mine (brain tumor surgery, bladder cancer, chemo and surgery), I was largely unable to work. Surprise, surprise,at the end of this nearly three-year period, my wife (and, therefore, in the eyes of the law), I owe the State and the Feds about $75,000 in taxes ($100,000 once 2014 is on the books). I kicked her out and told her to go live with her son since she's paying for it anyway.
At this point, her son is largely unemployable. She allowed him to skip the last two years of high school but he did get a GED (please explain to me what that is worth after missing most of high school).
I love my wife but don't ever seeing her making this kid (grown man at 26) stand on his own two feet. Plus, I'm on the hook for the tax money.
