SD bed wetter
She is almost 11 and still wets the bed. She has been to doctors, tried homeopathic remedies,...my husband says it's genetic. He had it, his father had it, oldest daughter had, it just takes time to outgrow and nothing helps but time.
I've worked past the laudry issue-she does it herself now. Her urine has destroyed one matress protector-breaking it down from so many washes and amonia that it has leaked through and destroyed the twin bed she sleeps on. It reeks on urine in her room. -I just shut the door. That is not my issue.
My husband wants to get her a new bed.
She is the only one in the house still in a twin bed.
yes she is getting older.
Yes she is getting taller.
But
She still fits just fine in the twin bed and she still wets the bed. SO WHY get her a new bed now when she is still wetting the bed and could possibly destroy this matress also?
The youngest girl recently went on an overnight stay with my husband's sister where she confided that she doesn't like sleeping on a stinky pee matress and feels like a baby being the only still in a twin bed when her older siblings are in full and queen beds.
When my husband shared this with me I reminded him that she still wets the bed. He suggested putting plastic over the new matress. He is really dead set on it.
I brought up the fact that WE
STILL SLEEP ON THE SAME MATRESS HE HAD WITH HIS EX WIFE
A very sore subject for me I might add.
And I said if anyone is getting a new bed and mattress it will not be the bed wetter...
I think I have a firm leg to stand on here, no?

I slept on a twin bed until I got married and moved out at age 21. I've been 5'8" since I was 14.
As far as the bedwetting... I feel you. PigPen12 is still a bedwetter. His problem is he has the emotional maturity of a 2 year old and is "too scared" to get out of bed before the sun peaks over the horizon. Night lights don't help - the bogeyman might reach out from under the bed and grab him. We have a plastic mattress cover PLUS a pee pad on the bed. I wash the bedding in hot water TWICE with distilled white vinegar. The smell NEVER completely goes away. It's disgusting. I am at my wit's end and DH has agreed that if PigPen wets the bed this weekend, he has to start wearing "incontinence pants". IOW, adult diapers. I pray to God DH follows through.
Give SD your old bed and buy
Give SD your old bed and buy yourself a new one. SO had the mattress that he and BM had together when I first met him. I bought a new mattress and SD got her parents mattress. She also still wets the bed at 11yr old and we have a mattress cover on the old bed. I could care less if she ruins it.
And when I get mad at SO, I tell him to go sleep on SD's pee mattress. LOL (of course he never does)
I like the suggestion of you
I like the suggestion of you getting a new bed and SD getting your old one.
Alternatively, maybe keep the twin frame for now and just get a new (but inexpensive) mattress since the current one does smell.
I should add she has only had
I should add she has only had this bed for 18 months.
So it has been destroyed by her bed wetting (and our attempts to protect the mattress) in 18 months.
My stance is that anything she gets will be destroyed again so why give her anything new before her bed wetting stops if she will probably just destroy it too?
Get her Depends.
Get her Depends.
I cant believe you still
I cant believe you still sleep on a matress that he and exw used.
First thing to go when we moved intogether.
Best thing to do is buy yourself a new mattress and give her your old one.
SD17 has my old double mattress, considering she hates me and yet is still happy to have my mattress that is over 10yo and one that her dad and i *****ed on makes me laugh every day!!!
take your money and buy a new
take your money and buy a new bed. no new wife should be forced to sleep in a bed that was used by her husband when married to another woman.
when we married dh did not have a clue. he said its still a good bed. in fact the bed had stains of urine when children were babies. a no go for me.
i used my bonus money and bought a new bed for us. no way was i going to tolerate having a bed that his ex slept in.
When SO and I moved in
When SO and I moved in together, we put my old mattress in the guest room since it was smaller (and nicer for guests) and we put his old mattress (bigger but definitely worn out like whoa and had no bedframe, just sat on the floor) in our room--the mattress he shared with his ex. And it had a HUGE blood stain on it from her vag.
SO came to the relationship with a ton of old debt, and we had committed to paying it off and never charging anything again. But I tell you what--we walked into a mattress store and put a brand new fancy mattress + rails on credit. It was the last thing we ever bought on credit and it took us 10 months to pay it (and the rest of the old debt) off, but it was SO WORTH IT. I wanted to send the blood mattress to BM's apartment and leave it outside her door with her name taped to it, but alas, we just let the guys who delivered the new mattress take it away.

Agree! I took me and Ex's
Agree!
I took me and Ex's mattress when I moved out on my own, BUT when DH and I moved in together, the mattress went strait in the trash!
Ex took the couch from the basement and I took the one form the living room when we split...he got the potty training couch. lol
He was never around when the kids were little, so he didn't know it was the potty training couch, but I laughed and he kept it WELL after the divorce, like (5 years after)
