Saw a quote today...
"We talk so much about leaving a better planet to our kids that we forget about leaving better kids to this planet"
Isn't that the truth! I don't know if it is the kids' rights movement or too many Disney dads or just a lack of caring to parent...but kids these days really disgust me! There aren't many pre-teens and teenagers that I don't feel the need to backhand. I of course harness that need but they seriously disturb me! They think "rape" is the coolest word ever and make light of it and don't think they should have to help their parents with anything. They have a complete lack of respect for their elders AND most just get away with it without a second thought from their parents. I don't get it!
It scares me to think that these kids will one day be running our country...yikes!
Sorry for the multiple posts today...just a lot on my mind and finally have the chance to post
MY kids are also being raised
MY kids are also being raised the right way! I tried with SD (while DH failed to) and it just doesn't work when you aren't the bio-parent, at least not for some. SD actually falsely accused me of abuse so I quit parenting her altogether.
My kids on the other hand have consequences for ALL of their actions. Negative actions receive punishment and positive actions receive rewards. My kids have the occasional toddler tantrum, but they will NEVER disrespect me or anyone else! I will remove bedroom doors from hinges, take everything from their room except a bed and set of clothes and assign unpleasant chore after unpleasant chore...and my kids will respect me for it and one day appreciate it. And I bet since I love my kids enough to do those things...my kids won't require them (I hope).
""We talk so much about
""We talk so much about leaving a better planet to our kids that we forget about leaving better kids to this planet""
True. And I'd argue that we can leave our kids a better planet by teaching them to respect others, including SPs :jawdrop: how to respect authority, and respect the boundaries of others. With the way things are going now, there are too many big fish in a small pond.
