Hi all,
I am recently engaged to my wonderful fiancé (been together almost three years). He has a teenage son who is quite possibly one of the worst kids I have ever met. He hates me and has never even met me! He refuses to and I blame that on his bitter mother who has lied about all kinds of things as well. His son has told me that my fiancés family hates me and wants nothing to do with me, his parents cry for their son because hes marrying me, etc. Long story short my fiancés has said none of that is true (at least to his knowledge) and his son is just acting out and that as far as he knows, they do like me. The problem is I don't know who is lying. Is my fiancé lying because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings or is his son lying trying to make me think no one likes me (and possibly cause me and my fiancé to fight)????
Anyway.. My fiancés family have never been the most inviting but haven't ever been mean to me either. I can tell they are quiet and reserved. We seldom go to family functions so they really don't know me just whatever is being said to them by my fiancés son and crazy mother.
I have noticed since we have gotten engaged, his brothers wives ( they are friends with my fiancés ex as well) have been a bit warmer to me. One of them is pregnant now and recently invited me the baby shower. I don't know his family that well and hearing all the negative stuff I feel slightly out of place. I am at a loss as to whether I should go?
maybe this would be a good step to take in getting them to know me? If his family truly "hated me so much" like my fiancés son says would they really go out of their way to invite me to stuff??
