My SD has been possessed by an angel?

I wanted to share some GOOD news here.

So, I went to birthday party at BM's house (see prior post).  It wasn't bad! She said nothing to me! Some may consider this to be rude, but I am completely ok with it.  

Also, over the past several days, something has changed.  Something clicked.  SD went from being a moody, selfish, spoiled brat to a kind, sweet, cuddly little girl!?!  I don't know what changed.  She lets me make her dinner and actually eats it.  Before anything I made tasted "funny".  She curls up with me on the couch and talks to me, she wanted to go to the grocery store with me, we sang really loud in the car together, she wore the headband I got her for her birthday....is this a trick?

I am cautiously basking in the moment.  Dare I say, we may actually end up having a good relationship?  Is this some manifestation of BM's manipulative tactics?  I'm trying to stay positive!

It's a phase. I don't mean that in a negative way. It's possible you've made a real breakthrough in your relationship. But even if you have done so - and I hope that's the case - it doesn't mean she won't be awful in the future. She's not even a teen yet. 

My son - my own darling biological child (age 11) - goes through phases where he's a charming and lovely human being. And then phases where is...not. My SSs, too. My own child goes through phases where he doesn't like anything I cook. And phases where he appreciates my cooking (I'm a good cook.)

I think what I find so strange is that it's been nearly 3 years....she has NEVER been this way with me.  She ignores me- doesn't even say hello unless prompted by her father.  And here we are.... I don't know what to make of it.

Maybe she just gave up. It's HARD keeping yourself disconnected from others. It takes a lot of energy!

She has either 1) made a complete 180 of her own accord, 2) her BM has given her permission to "like" you because you let BM have her way, 3) Christmas is coming and she wants something, or 4) there is something not related to Christmas she wants and is buttering you and DH up.

Enjoy it while it lasts, even if that is "forever". Just don't be surprised if she becomes Satan Incarnate on December 26th.
