DH is FINALLY starting to parent SKID!!!!
Just got a copy of skid's re-evaluation report. school has to do one every 3 yrs by law, specifically because skid has Autism and receives all kinds of supports in school. Well, the eval was BAD! Skid has decreased in every academic area........all for BEHAVIOR ISSUES, all academics are now below average or far below average. Seriously the school has NO IDEA how to handle him, he probably should be in special school. i'm beyond pissed off. there is a part in his functional behavior assessment that actually says, in black and white, that they allow him OUT OF ACTIVITES that he's supposed to do if they think he's starting to have a meltdown......OMFG...anyone with a brain knows that is the WRONG ANSWER. UGHHH...... Thankfully i'm part of an autism support group in a district close by to me and all those moms and dads know their shit. they got me an ADVOCATE to go with us to the 'meeting' at the school, which is today at 2pm. I hope the advocate basically BURIES these people at this school for letting skid be noncompliant all this time, and why am i just hearing about it now?????
I have made 2 of my friends who work with autistic kids beat DH over the head basically and tell him that he HAS TO GET OFF HIS ASS and work with this kid or things are just going to get worse and worse. this weekend DH actually took skid with him to the high school track and made him walk while dh ran, makes him stretch at home, try sit ups, etc.
sad thing is all this is coming 6 yrs too late. every therapist, teacher, etc. that i talk to tell me the same thing "IF ONLY I HAD SKID AT AGE 3, I COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH".....exactly, early intervention is KEY! guess i have to live with better late than never......no more free ride for skid and no more manipulation of all the adults in his life. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!
Don't count your chickens
Don't count your chickens before they hatch. One day at the track ain't a turn-around.
