Need advice about preschool and more!
So FH and I want to send SD to preschool in Sept. We are willing to pay for all of it but BM doesn't want to do it because of cost. BM was all about it until she heard the price tag, however, FH and I have offered to pay ALL. Well I was wondering if there was a way we could take her to court to make her take SD to preschool? She works full time so SD has to go either to day care or preschool regardless. In your opinion is preschool worth sending a child to? Also BM has recently moved in with BF's parents. FH and I just found out that BM, BF, and SD all share one room. Although SD does have a seperate bed, I wonder how that will look to CPS/court? Any advise would be great!

Preschool should be free and mandatory! IMHO.
Google "The first 5 years of a child's life" to find out the importance.
If you live in California go to http://www.ccfc.ca.gov/ for the First 5 California web site.
I have 3 SK's and 2 BK's. One is at Cal Poly, one that will be going to UC Davis Medical School and 3 that do well in school because they went or are currently going to preschool. I also raised a nephew and I am currently finishing a degree in Child Development. Therefore I have to say it again...preschool should be free (wishful thinking) and mandatory.
If you are willing to front the cost...bless you. You are obviously a wonderful, caring person. SD is lucky to have you.
I have 2 questions:
1) If you are paying why won't BM take her?
and
2) Do you have to pay for half if she has to go to daycare anyway?
As for BM living with BF at her parents house...she should be shot. Again, just my humble opinion
I was the primary
driver of SD5 in preschool (her grad. is the fourth yay') and let me tell you, it is NOT easy, we have her in La petite academy, is free from 9 til 12, and I have to drive about 12 minutes, which means that 48 minutes of my day I used to spend driving her up and down...
But I think is worth it, SD5 has learned a lot there, and I think is a sacrifice one has to make...
PreK, just as the word says, prepares the child for kidergarten, and without it, the child will be behind in kindergarten Unless you guys have the patience to homeschool the child in order prepare him/her to kindergarten...

In preschool they do learn
In preschool they do learn all about the academic requirements of school. Most importantly, they will gain the love of learning and socialization.
The reason BM won't take her
The reason BM won't take her to preschool is she is just being weird. She says we are too pushy with the subject, like education is something that shouldn't be focused on. She also says that she worries we will make her pay more once SD starts, but she knows that we stand by our word and always have. As for paying half, we only pay for that time that we send SD to daycare. BM doesn't get any child support because she makes too much money. But instead of paying that money on rent and SD she would rather spend it on ciggaretts and alcohol. It makes me so mad, but obviously we can do nothing about that.
