Why is it every time I am the one who does all the work to help their child get what she needs and they get all the credit for something they didn't do.

SD6 has special needs and needs to be in a special needs class, her school placed her in an integrated class room. Big no no on there part because she can not learn or be taught on a kindergarten level. I've been fighting with the school and calling and discussing the situation with director and superintends of the schools. No they see what i mean and transfer into a class she needs. Mother of the year gets all the credit for it when ME STEP MOTHER DID IT ALL>>>

Should i just back off and only take care of my kid and let them too take care of theirs????

There are two major things we have to pay when it comes to stepparenting...

1.We are parents ONLY when needed and expected, but when our input is not requested or our help not needed we don't have a right in the child's life.

2.Kind of goes along with the first one, We don't get credit for anything we do, the Bioparent does Wink

No, do not back off regardless of who gets the credit . The childs life will be so much better because of you and you know in your heart who did all the work.

I feel the same way about our BM, who told all the schools that SD had dyslexia, that is why she couldn't read very well at age 11, and so did not have to do her homework, so almost flunked elementary school! I, evil Stepmom suggested getting tutoring for coping with dyslexia and testing to make sure she had it, then poof! she was cured.??!!

BM has never forgiven me and I really don't care! To me that is the gift DH and I gave to her, to work on her reading and have even a chance of getting an education, not that she has, oh well. Can't do it all!

So just do it anyway . . . we know you did it and it is the right thing to do for the child! but then you already know that Wink
