Acupuncture,,Ever had one?
Totally off normal subject,,, but the reason I ask is because my husband has made me an appointment for this Friday. I am scared to death. Just the thought of needles scares the crap out of me. I have talked to some friends and some say you cant go wrong with ancient chinese medicine. So what is your view of this procedure.
I thought valentines day would be relaxing not being poked with needles!!

Acupuncture
I have acupuncture regularily.
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it is very difficult to control joint pain and I don't want to take pills all the time-
Reluctantly, I went to a physio/acupuncture clinic-
The therapist explained in detail what would happen-it was uncomfortable at first but I got used to it (took about 3 treatments)
The pain relief was unbelievable-when I am having an episode (my joints somewhat resembling the Tin Man on the Wizard of Oz)acupuncture is the ONLY thing that gets me on my feet again!
Oh yeah and the needles are very small and fine.

Thanks for the info. I suffer from RA as well. I take Enbrel and it works wonders for me. I do not take it every week as I prefer EOW. My pain level seems to be well managed and under control for the most part. My worst days are normally when it is rainy, damp, wet out. Well basically any moisture in the air. I like how I feel on the Enbrel, but I hate giving myself the shot that is also part of the reason why I do EOW.
That is why I love this site. You get a wealth of information even when you aren't looking for it. You know the old adage...You learn something new every day. Well this is my something new today. I will keep acupncture in mind if I get another bad flare. Thanks again.

Yeah *Husband*,,, long story!! or maybe really not that long...
My husband does not believe in a person taking medication. I have migraines and have stopped all medicine for it. For three weeks now I have had consistant headaches and neck pain. He talked to a family member that had this procedure done for pregnancy reasons and she loved it.
I think my husband wants to see me being abused like a voo doo doll. Im joking. I am shocked that he scheduled this without me,,, I could see him setting up a massage but this!
He thinks my energy level is way down. I mean I only get up at 6 every morning, get three kids to two differ schools, work 8 hours, pick up one kid from track, then home, then supper, then laundry, maybe work out for hour and half some nights..... I dont understand why I would feel low energy,,, You ladies know it feels. But anyways I think he is hoping for a miracle...I will let ya know how it goes...

It sounds like maybe he is trying to find you some relief...I at least hope those are his intentions. I ahve migraines really bad too, so do let me know if it works for you! 
Yep, I've done it!
I went and had about three treatments four years ago. I would do it again, but have since moved to the sticks and there's no practitioner around here.
I went for plumbing issues. That's about all I'm comfortable saying publicly. A friend told me about her acupunturist and how he helped her with a similar problem.
Anyway, it worked like a charm.
Also, the acupunturist I went to practiced Japanese acupunture. They don't stick needles all over for the most part. They focus mainly only the feet and ankles and hands and forearm or wrist area. It was very relaxing and not at all uncomfortable.

I have it done for neck and back pain and it works better than most meds I've taken. Plus it doesn't leave you feeling loopy.

I've done it for siatica (sp). 3 visits and it was much better. I'm sure like most things like this...depends on the Doc.
Good luck! It didn't hurt at all, my doc heated the needles, and it felt very good, all warm.
