Child support

I really am asking for a friend! Regarding child support and the papers state CS until the child turns 18 or graduates, whichever happens last. What happens if said child doesn't graduate?

Yes. Seriously. I told her that I assumed age would trump it. I assume this was a dumb question by your reaction, but it was an honest question.

Well, I guess the BM figured it out or the kid. It really is a question for a friend. My skids are out of school.

If the kid drops out then 18 or when emancipated..... depending on what the parents decide to push either together or alone. The NCP can motion gethe courts for either early emancipation or emancipation at 18 to get the loser spawn off of the payroll.

Not something I have experience with but a good friend forced early emancipation through the courts onto his daughter who was flagrantly flaunting not following the household rules at 17 and disrupting the household and life for her two younger sibs.

I'm pretty sure it only continues after 18 if they are enrolled in high school.

I agree. In our CO it was clear. CS continued until age 18 or HS graduation whichever was later. He graduated at 17 and turned 18 3mos later. The SPermClan couldn't move fast enough to petition the court to end CS upon his 18th b-day. They also hit him with the full court press not to nail the DipShitIot for four more years of CS as a full time college student. It is pretty clear that the pressure from the Sperm Clan is part of the reason he chose to not go to college right away. If he was not in college he did not have the option to nail his SpermIdiot's ass to the wall for four more years of CS and his mom and I mapped out that the CS would give him a ton more spending money since we were happy to cover the entire cost of tuition, fees, room, board, travel, and a monthly spending stipend.

Interestingly as soon as he enlisted in the USAF the SpermClan started pressuring him to send money to support his three younger also SpermIdiot spawned half sibs by two other baby mamas. Based on his ASVAB scores the USAF sent him to school anyway and he could have nailed DickHead for the money but he refused to do it.

He was done with them at that point and didn't want to deal with the crap they would have put him through had he gone after the extended CS. I was ready to nail their asses to the wall if they balked at paying it if he had chosen to enforce that CS right.

He aged out from under that CO element nearly 3 years ago so .... that is a SpermClan ass whoopin that got away... damn it! }:)

The CO order says 18 or graduates whichever happens last hence the question.

That sentence basically is saying that if the child turns 18, say in Feb, but is still in high school and does not graduate until June, CS goes until June. If the child graduates before turning 18, CS continues until 18, even though they have graduated.

If said child drops out of school, CS stops at 18. If said child does not graduate but stays enrolled and repeats a year, CS can continue. Where I live, someone can stay enrolled and continue trying to graduate high school until they are 21, I believe.

My SD25 was 2 years behind, so we would have been paying CS until she was 20, but she got pregnant, dropped out, and got married.

you can explain it as follows....

e.g

graduation date for high school June - kid turns 18 only in September.... then CS will be till September

if kid does not graduate and drops out of school, CS will simply stop on his birthday...

when he turns 18.....

Wow! Such crazy stuff! I'll relay all these scenarios to my friend! I appreciate you all!

In our State, if it is not stipulated in the Custody Order, then it will default to the following;

Usually, court-ordered child support ends when the child turns 18 years old if he or she graduates from high school. If your 18-year-old child is still a full-time high school student and still lives with a parent, child support ends when your child GRADUATES or turns 19, whichever occurs first.
