Whoa is me!
Last night there was a terrible accident at the entrance of our sub-division. Our neighborhood is right off of a 70 mph 4 lane highway...2 lanes in each direction with no turn lane. Folks in this neighborhood have been trying to get a turn lane for years, as anyone who lives here can testify to nearly being hit by drivers not paying attention to people needing to slow or stop to turn into the sub-division. Well, last night our worst fear came to reality, and a family was plowed by a driver in a larger pickup trying to turn, and a child and teenager were killed.
So...today, all over social media, HHB has been going on and on about this being the worst week of her life, trying to say the teenager was one of her best friends! If they were such good friends, why did HHB never mention him until now? Oh, because he was really just merely another kid she knew at school while she lived here! I bet they haven't even talked in the last 4 months since HHB moved back to BM's! So, while I've spent my day on the phone with county commissioners and sending emails to everyone I could think of screaming, "We've been saying for years that this intersection is dangerous! Now that two children are dead, and the rest of the family is in the hospital, will you people finally listen?", HHB is using the tragedy yet again to draw attention to herself! While I'm trying to get a turn lane for this neighborhood to prevent this kind of thing to ever happen again, HHB is over there in her part of the world having a personal putty party for herself!
Sorry, it just ticks me off!!!
how did your local planning
how did your local planning board ever allow that development to be built without a turn lane?
Road planning around here is
Road planning around here is a total joke!!! There is another spot down the highway...end of a hill...where a ranch-to-market road and the highway have intersected for decades...no turn lane or light at that intersection, either! There have been many deadly wrecks there, too. Yet, there is some old dude down the way who somehow got them to put a light at his private road...yes, his road is across from another ranch-to-market, but there have hardly been any wrecks at that spot...he threw a fit because he had to wait for traffic to turn on to his private road! We haven't asked for an expensive traffic light...just a turn lane! The freakin' state owns the some 20 feet of land on each side of the road for the purpose of widening. All they need to do is throw some asphalt on each side at that spot and re-draw the lines to include a turn lane!
But our road people are idiots! If you aren't rich, they ignore you! Even the county clerk, who knows the area and who has filterd the complaints for years, said how sad it is that it takes a tragedy like this to make the department of transportation finally do something!
UGH...just ticks me off!! The
UGH...just ticks me off!! The flood of comments on HHB's posts..."Sorry for your loss"..."You are in my prayers"...SERIOUSLY? This wasn't HER loss! She barely talked to the guy! This is the family's loss!! They had to break the news to the poor mom and the remaining two children yesterday in the hospital that the children died at the scene (they wanted to make sure that they were in stable condition before breaking the news, as their survival was their top priority). We are a small community, and the night of the accident, I came home through the back way when a friend who lives across the highway from me called to make sure I was okay, and told me of the scene at the main entrance. As I pulled up to my mail box, one of the family members was desperately trying to get out of the sub-division to get to the mom and two kids in the hospital and stopped me. I guess they hadn't lived in the sub-division long enough to know about the back way through the county roads. So, I gave the guy directions, and I could tell he was in a lot of pain so I asked him if I could pray with him real quick before sending him on his way. The poor guy broke into tears and said, "YES...YES...please...I need that right now!" I prayed with him for him and his family, and he gave me a hug before heading on his way. Yeah, I know that HHB wasn't around to see that, but that is what pisses me off the most! I've seen this family's pain...and it is the family's loss...and she is out there using this tragedy to draw attention to herself like she has a couple of other similar situations over the last couple of years!
When she was dating that guy her freshman year...his uncle passed away. HHB didn't even know the uncle, but she was going around telling everyone about it and how difficult it was comforting her then boyfriend to gain attention and sympathy for her!! Then earlier this school year...there was another tragic car accident that involved a kid BS20 graduated with (who BS20 actually did know) and another student who was a senior this year. Again, HHB made it all about herself...like she was so close to these guys and she lost her best friend! SHE HARDLY TALKED TO THEM! Just because you know OF someone who dies, doesn't make it your loss...doesn't mean you have to morn! Holy cow, girl! It is one thing to feel the pain of the community...like in this case the other night...this loss of life could have been prevented if the road was fixed a long time ago as it should have been when this sub-division was first put in! As a community, we are now here to help the family...there are already fund raisers in the works to help pay for funeral costs and medical bills, as it has been revealed the guy that ran into them was driving on a suspended license, meaning, there is little chance he has insurance to cover these costs. We are screaming even louder about the turn lane to try to prevent this kind of thing from happening again! As a community, we are helping the family with meals and such...the kinds of things a small community does. I don't want anyone's prayers for me...I want people to pray for this family! It wasn't my loss...it wasn't HHB's loss...this family is the only one who is at loss right now!
I even have to listen to DH around here, "Poor HHB...she knew the kid." I want to scream at him "NO SHE DIDN'T!"
Sorry for the rant...I'm just so sick and tired of any time HHB "knows" someone involved in any kind of tragedy, she has to turn it to gain herself attention! Get over yourself already!!!
That was very kind of you to
That was very kind of you to pray with that man. At first I read too fast, didn't realize it was a family member. It brought tears to my eyes.
As for HHB, people eventually stop listening to records that just skip and skip and keep repeating themselves. Ugh.
Oh...guess who didn't go to
Oh...guess who didn't go to school today! "Oh, BM, I'm too depressed to go to school! Can I stay home?" Nothing like making a big deal about someone dying who you weren't even close to as a means to get a 3-day weekend! Can't tell you how happy I am right now that the girl does not live in this house! Think I may have to do some cleaning out of her room this weekend to get over being so disgusted with her for this attention grab B.S.!
Look on the bright side.
Look on the bright side. She'll miss even more assignments and keep getting more bad grades! I keep checking SD13's grades and I keep quiet. She forgets to do BOTH SIDES of a worksheet, doesn't hand things in, which means she probably forgot to write her name on it.
But it's not HER fault lol. Never ever.

But the problem is, unless
But the problem is, unless she drops out of school, bad grades hurt us! DH's child support doesn't end at 18, but when HHB graduates high school. So, if she ends up being a 5th year high schooler, that is a whole extra year of child support AND having to deal with BOTH HHB and BM! It's only the 25th, and I'm already dreading the next 5 days. I'm certain BM will ask for more child support yet again..start a big fight with DH, DH will be in a crappy mood, which means a higher risk of us getting into a fight over HHB AGAIN! Remember, prom is next weekend, and I'm certain that dress didn't fit! HHB is going to want to get her hair and makeup done, will probably want new shoes...so I'm filling expecting a war this week over money....and remember, my money! I'm not giving an extra dime toward that girl, and that includes covering more of DH's share of the household stuff if he gives in.
Luckily, the court order has
Luckily, the court order has no stipulation for college, so DH is NOT on the hook for any of that! Thank goodness! Of course, at this rate, the girl will only get into community college anyway IF she goes! Too many credits by computer, and the universities will not take her, as they do not acknowledge the credit by computer like the high school does. Of course, if she even completes those credits! There is only 4-5 weeks left of school, and now that HHB is "so depressed" over the "loss" of this person she wasn't even really all that close to, I don't see her putting in much effort. Before she knows it, it will be 1-2 weeks left of school, not enough time to catch up on the computer work, and she will probably be failing the 6th grading period, as well. Then, BM will be crying to DH that she needs more money for summer school...sorry, no dice! HHB's grades weren't great when she lived with us, but DH managed to stay on her just enough to avoid having to pay for summer school. If BM cannot get HHB to at least get barely passing grades, not our problem! She can use the child support she already has for summer school, and maybe actually do her job as a parent next school year! I will surely tell DH THAT is what he needs to tell BM and hang up the phone!
Shoot, emo girlfriend is supposed to graduate this year, anyway. HHB may not even want to go to school next year! They should save everyone the misery, and just get the girl her GED. Around here, they are allowed to take that option now that HHB is 16 if it looks like she may not graduate on time anyway. Get her a GED, let her start working. Then, DH can stop child support the moment she turns 18!
