Quick little vent
Skids were over a couple weekends ago, DH was in the kitchen peeling a tangerine, he gave me a piece, and went into the skids' room where they were watching tv and gave them each a piece. He came back into the kitchen with me, and started to peel another one, (little things are tasty!) and I hear a shout from down the hallway, "DADDY, MORE!!" It was the older of the two, SDstb10. He actually turned to go and take one to her. Normally, I just keep my mouth shut (fairly well disengaged, loving it I must say) but this was just too damn much. I stopped him and said, no way, she can come in here to get it. So he did call to her and tell her to come to the kitchen. She did, and after he placed it IN HER MOUTH for her ( barf, I hate it when he hand feeds them, like baby birds or something), she trotted off back to her room. I told him, look, I'm sorry, but that was just rude, she should not be yelling at you from across the house for one thing, and two, if she wants more, she can come to you and ASK. He just kind of mumbled something about 'kids' or whatever, and I asked 'would you have done that to your dad when you were her age?? 'Well no, but that was a different time, things were different.'
OOOMMMGGGGGGGG.
Ewww annoying....
Ewww annoying....
Thats the analogy I used,
Thats the analogy I used, when I would witness immature behavior with DH and SS.
He did say that once." That was a different time"
And I remember saying " Ya, thats when men were men"!
Start parenting. and stop enabling..
continue the circle of life, and dont make it a square!!
Back when Daddies weren't
Back when Daddies weren't afraid that the kid would say "I want to live at Mommies", "I don't want to visit here anymore".
But you're right - a strong father, even a non-custodial one, would put their kids discipline first even if it costs him face time for a decade or more, much much more.
It's not even a discipline
It's not even a discipline issue, it's that he treats them like babies. It is embarrassing to be anywhere in public with them when he starts to hand feed them both. They will bounce at his feet literally, like baby birds, with their mouths open. Or, if they are being PITA and not eating breakfast/lunch/dinner, he will spoon feed them. It's nauseating. And the running to take her food... I don't even know...
The part where he feeds her
The part where he feeds her made me feel a bit sick  yuk!
Hated it when daddykins ran
Hated it when daddykins ran to every chirp, but I am more bothered by his placing it in her mouth. At 3 okay, but at 10 it's erring on a little too romantic …bleck.
Thank you!! When we are
Thank you!! When we are eating together, we will share food, sometimes feeding each other. And to me it is definitely a romantic gesture, especially when using your fingers!
Something wicked this way comes.... Skid weekend starts tomorrow evening.
