Any Support Groups out there??

Hi All. I am new to this site and I am trying to do some research. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years and he has 2 kids (daughter 16 and son 10). I don't have any children, and this is my first experience of being a step parent. I wanted to start a group in my area (Orillia Ontario Canada)where step parents can get together and talk face to face. I was wondering if any of you go to any such group and if so, could you please give me any information about it? I am trying to decide what the meetings will look like if I do start up such a group. Any help I can get would be appreciated.

What a wonderful idea!! I always look in the paper for something like that and there is nothing around my area.

I wish there was something like that in my area. Only certain people understand what you are saying. Others just look at you like you landed here from mars.

I've also searched and searched in desperation for a stepfamily support group in my area. I'd love to meet with others who can feel my pain!

hi guys.. what do you think about using meetup.com as a way to get these groups together? On meetup.com there are groups in the area that meet for certain things, hobbies, etc. so maybe you could try there first, and if there isnt one start your own?

Thanks everyone for your comments. It is so great that there are actually groups out there and that others are interested in forming them. MinneMom, I would love to hear from you about what those meetings you go to look like (is it informal discussion, speakers, etc.). Keep the comments coming and I will check your suggestions!
