O/T Cleaning supplies

Any ladies create their own cleaning supplies/laundry? If so, what are your fav combos?

I recently made my first batch of a disinfectant liquid. Just added some water/white vinegar/borax and a few drops of tea tree oil. I'm wanting to start making more of my own stuff.

What are your favorite essential oils and uses? Do you prefer borax or baking soda for cleaning items? I LOVE adding borax in the laundry-it's great for stains/odors.

Any homesteading fav hacks/tricks you enjoy?

We've been bit w/the homesteading but and are looking to get property and grow/raise our own food in the next year or two-though I'm not quitting my day job lol- at least not for a while. I've always been big on cooking but not baking but recently tried pancakes, bisquits and bread from scratch-oh and for Christmas I made a TO DIE FOR rum cake from scratch too.

I'm honestly tired of the high expense of cleaning sprays/lysol wipes for counters, etc. But I DO love softscrub Sad Can you make your own? I also have bar keepers friend. So share your bath/kitchen cleaning items that work. What about dish detergent (self wash and dishwasher).

Thanks in advance!

For fabric softener I use VO5 with vinegar and a few drops EO. I add baking soda for brights.

Vinegar, EO, and dawn for shower cleaner.

How do you know that your disinfectant, is actually disinfecting. What ever that means. Is it killing germs, is it killing virus ?
Is it killing anything except by drowning.
It will clean but will it do more ?

Vinegar is a disinfectant. Has been shown in labs to even kill flu virus. The recommended procedure for killing the most bacteria is to first clean with hot soapy water, followed by wiping down with vinegar. I guess the Dawn and vinegar combo does it all at once.

Thanks to YouTube, I make my own laundry soap, fabric softener, hardwood polish, and body scrub.

Those are things that eventually I will get around to doing regularly - right now, I only make detergent.

1 bar of Fels Naptha soap, shaved
3 gallons of hot water + 4 cups hot water separate
1 cup of borax
2 cups of washing soda (or if you can't find any, make some by baking baking soda at 400* for about 30-40 minutes spread out on a pan. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS, IT'S CAUSTIC. WEAR GLOVES. DON'T BREATHE IT IN)
1 cup of baking soda
1 large container about 4-5 gallons size

I use a lot of vinegar to clean... with lavendar essential oil, tea tree oil, and colloidal silver.

My daughters, however, are huge into making their own soaps and body scrubs... the last scrub they made had turmeric ginger and honey in it - I'll check in with them.
