OT - Missing my Mom
I was on edge all damn day yesterday and could NOT figure out why. Restless, nervous, itchy (I get itchy when I nervous or upset)... felt like something was OFF.
I woke up about 2am, sat straight up and realized that yesterday was the day my Mom passed away 6 years ago. I felt like a complete SH!T for forgetting about it. I even THOUGHT about her yesterday (well, I think of her EVERY day), but did not realize it was the anniversary of her passing. Crikey.
You now what sucks the most?? I'm a total Daddy's Girl. Mom and I were like oil and water. All of my siblings are Momma's Girls/Boys. I'm the only one who is Daddy's. If Mom's passing hit me so hard, I shudder to think of what a sobbing, drooling, incapacitated mess I'll be when Dad is gone. (Hopefully MANY years from now!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Gads, I feel like SH!T. :O

OMG, I just realized I
OMG, I just realized I "missed" the anniversary of my mom's passing! It was 10 years ago on Sept. 10th. I think about her daily, and I remember thinking about it before the date... Ugh!
I'm sorry about your mom...I know how you feel.

Nah, Acra. I've been Daddy's Girl all my life. I think some of it is due to guilt. Mom and I did not get along so well for most of our lives.

Aniki its hard regardless
Aniki its hard regardless which parent you feel closer too! When I am missing them (both have passed) I go through old photos or items that were special to them. Its a bitter sweet feeling, but it reconnects me. I was super close tp both, so I know how rough this can be.
Be kind to yourself
Thank you, Dovina. I will go
Thank you, Dovina. I will go home tonight, pour a glass of wine (maybe buy a bottle of Mom's fave), and go through old family photos and some of Mom's cookbooks. xoxo
that's a lovely way to pay
that's a lovely way to pay tribute regardless of your past relationship with her!!! maybe even cook up one of your most treasured childhood meals.
Tuff, I actually made a batch
Tuff, I actually made a batch of a family fave last night for DH and me. We have 4 servings left (2 dinners each) and Mom's fave wine will go nicely with it.
(((HUGS))) to you, Aniki.
(((HUGS))) to you, Aniki. Funny how the mind remembers those things, isn't it? And no matter how much your personality clashes wit ha loved one's, once they're gone, it's still so very hard. I think having some of your mom's favorite wine and looking through photos sounds like a nice tribute to her.
Thank you, Ghost. I'm buying
Thank you, Ghost. I'm buying a box of Kleenex, too.
