Scenes from a suburban kitchen...
Mystery solved!
A few weeks ago I noticed that the jar of peanut butter was misshaped. It kind of looked like the leaning Tower of Pisa, but I couldn't figure out why. In the end, I decided I didn't give a f*ck because I don't eat peanut butter.
This morning, DH and I are sitting on the couch watching the Giants play the Rams when I see BabyVoice in the kitchen making breakfast. I see her waving the peanut butter jar over the top of the toaster.
I walk into the kitchen to get more coffee, and I see what she's doing-she is holding the plastic jar of peanut butter over the top of the toaster in an attempt to soften up the peanut butter.
Now, most people would probably take some peanut butter out of the jar and put it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up, but not BV.
At that exact moment in time, DH said, "who is melting plastic in here?" I replied that it was his daughter. When asked why she was melting the plastic instead of melting the peanut butter, her response was, wait for it, "I don't know."
He told her that our microwave had this totally awesome feature called soften and that in the future, she should work on melting the peanut butter and not the plastic.
*sigh*

Right? I mean, that's weird, right? Holding a plastic jar over the top of the toaster hoping the heat melts the peanut butter inside and not the plastic jar?
Tell me it's not just me.
Sounds like my SS in the
Sounds like my SS in the future. I told him to make his own chocolate milk so he started pouring the chocolate syrup into the almost full gallon of milk. When I told him he was doing it wrong he started crying. Kid has no sense whatsoever. My bios aren't much different sad to say.

I think it's just super
I think it's just super laziness.
Yesterday I was in the kids bathroom putting away extra toothpaste and toilet paper. I found four empty deodorant boxes, three empty bags of pads and five empty toothpaste tubes.
The garbage can is literally 1 foot away from her tomorrow. She is just too damn lazy to throw anything away.
It is infuriating and DH thinks there's nothing wrong
SS does the same. He has a
SS does the same. He has a garbage can in his room about 2 feet from his gaming chair. However that would require he get his backside up and go around the corner of his bed and throw things away. It is much easier just to leave it all on the floor around the chair or shove it under the bed. Much more sensible.
Drawer. Not tomorrow-silly

A toaster burnt our kitchen
A toaster burnt our kitchen down when I was a kid. The diaper bag handle went in it and the bag turned it on by pushing down the handle.
BV is really something "special."
I hope you don't have a gas stove, mehhh she wouldn't know how to turn it on.
Yes-that is exactly what
Yes-that is exactly what she's doing.
I told both of them that reheating plastic releases chemicals that nobody wants to ingest.
That was my good deed for the day.
In other news, I'm throwing out that jar of peanut butter
There is no fix for stupid.
There is no fix for stupid. Fortunately SD's issues seem to be lack of experience and an absence of logic both of which can be overcome by learning from mistakes.
Hopefully she is one that can learn from mistakes. On that I would say the jury is out.
These girls and their peanut
These girls and their peanut butter. She should go hang out with Potato.

It's been a while since I've consumed PB....have they changed the consistency of it? I buy the whipped PB for DH. When his blood sugar tanks, he eats it straight from the jar. None of the rest of us eat it.
The expensive all natural (no
The expensive all natural (no additives) stuff can be hard as a rock. Which is just one more reason why I buy the medium priced pb with lots of additives and sugar.
Organic. Needs to be
Organic. Needs to be refrigerated.
But still...
I am chuckling much better.
I am chuckling much better. Be glad she didn't try and put the container in the microwave for 10 minutes to soften it.

i just dont understand how some kids' brains are wired. but then again, common sense is like deodorant - the ones who need it most never use it.
Does anyone have the phone
Does anyone have the phone number to Drac0's SS, the Tallboy? They would make the perfect couple!!
They could have a sandwich spread reveal party--Nutella vs. Organic Peanut Butter. . .

She and my SS might make a fun pair...if he wasn't an 18-year-old ADULT.

Oh but 18 is a mere child by today's helicoptering standards. Reverse tape to 100 years ago when 14 year olds were out making a living and helping their families financially, 16 year olds were getting married and raising a family. By 18, you were an "old maid."
