NO Christmas
DH just told me he doesn't want to have Christmas this year. Oh, he'll buy presents, but he does not want a mass skid invasion, no decorations, no food. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!
I am SO hoping he doesn't change his mind!! }:)

It's the best-est present he
It's the best-est present he can give me this year!
That's the best solution
That's the best solution after last year's debacle. Those selfish, entitled, porcine skids will have to find another trough to eat from.
Guess your Christmas came early this year!
You said it, exjulie! They
You said it, exjulie! They were so many different kinds of rude, from the uber-early arrival to the pigout to the gift frenzy. SD20 had to REMIND PrincASS to say Thank You. Absolutely pathetic.
Then again, I don't think DH wants SD20's boyfriend, Troglodyte, in our house. Maybe he think's they'll split before next Christmas...
that. is. AWESOME!!!
that. is. AWESOME!!!
Tuff, DH and I won't have to
Tuff, DH and I won't have to share the cheese platter!!
that right there is reason
that right there is reason enough!
I will still make ham
I will still make ham (smaller) and pumpkin pie. It will be lovely to not be up half the night cleaning and cooking and up early on Christmas to get it all done.
I just had an awful
I just had an awful thought... what if those shi'theads decide to invade anyway? I hope DH lies and says he's working!!! :O
Make a deal with your DH,
Make a deal with your DH, right now, to not answer the door if they just show up.
I will definitely keep that
I will definitely keep that in mind, but will have to wait until we're closer to Christmas. We can always go to my Dad's house (who will be in Florida). }:)
Lucky! I do like the baking
Lucky!
I do like the baking cookies/treats part of it though...
Discussed this years holiday with DH recently. He didn't want to talk about it, but I'm like, SD12 is pushing it already we need to have a plan.
So we are not buying any more decorations, period. Not this year. DH will explain to SD12 about recent big expenses (like you know, house repairs and wedding) and that any "fun stuff" will have to wait. We have decorations, just not enough for SD12. So we'll see how that will go and if DH will cave.
I reminded him I was buying no gifts for SDs other than gift cards based on their attitude over gifts this past year. SD12 doesn't ask for anything else anyway. He's like, "But I always had gifts as a kid!" DH, I'm not saying YOU cannot buy them gifts, I won't. I think you buy too many and they are thoughtlessly tossed aside or dismissed. And SD12 only says she wants to "see a lot of gift under the tree." NOT right. She doesn't care what's in them, just that there's a lot there. I'm done with that.
And I also requested that he BE PRESENT. I will not be doing all the shopping (even if it's mostly online), wrapping, decorating, etc. HE will be assisting. I will bake cookies, I will take care of snacks, I will cook dinner and breakfast - just no gifts. I really don't think they will notice.
And if they do, he can explain it to them.
His response, "Yeah, you are right...I need to talk with them and I will be helping this year." Dang skippy.
Woo-hoo Aniki! Now, you can
Woo-hoo Aniki! Now, you can share your yummy goodies with your STalkers.
Lucky you! I'd love to cancel
Lucky you!
I'd love to cancel Christmas and go snowboarding but that is not to be.
I was nudging DH last night that we need to book somewhere for Christmas lunch with YSS (if we don't have him he has go nowhere to go). DH was complaining that the quality in the restaurants was poor and very expensive and suggested that we could do the meal at home. I looked him straight in the eye and said that I didn't plan to do any cooking. He got the message and we are going out.
Background - I did Christmas dinner at home a few years ago and YSS didn't eat any of it. I said at the time that that was the end and I wasn't cooking for people who weren't appreciative of my efforts.
Lol. The dinner that wasn't
Lol. The dinner that wasn't good enough was roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. There was nothing wrong with the meal. YSS had stayed up all night on games and gorging on snacks.
I have confess that I was an awful teen/early 20s person but I always ate what was prepared for me.
Gosh, anotherstep, are our
Gosh, anotherstep, are our BMs related?? BioHo only knows how to cook premade frozen stuff or she buys fast food.
I do ham with a brown sugar/mustard glaze. PrincASS is in love with my ham. PrincASS thinks mustard is an abomination. I took great please in informing him that my ham is loaded with mustard. He stared at me with his mouth hanging open for a good 30 seconds, then started sputtering, "But, but, but..." }:)
Yep, anotherstep, I quit
Yep, anotherstep, I quit cooking for the skids, too. BioHo has fed them a steady diet of fast food, junk food, and premade, chemical-laden CRAP. Their taste buds are total shite. DH stewed some wonderful blackberries with a bit of sugar. They were plenty sweet! Neither boy would eat them because they were SOUR. That's what happens when your taste buds are fed a steady diet of overly sugared crap.
PigPen is 14 and STILL pouts and gets teary-eyed when DH makes him eat veggies. After PrincASS said that frozen lasagna tasted better than my homemade (made with my Mom's decades-old family spaghetti sauce), I said that was okay and they wouldn't have to eat it again. And proceeded to put away the lasagna while PrincASS meekly protested "it wasn't THAT bad" and "I'm still hungry" (eat garlic bread, arsehole). Since that day, I have never cooked another meal for the skids. I've helped DH microwave some crap, but I no longer cook OR bake (much to the skids' dismay). After they eat their garbage, I make myself a steak for some shrimp scampi or some fresh fish. }:)
TheAccidentalSM, I stopped
TheAccidentalSM, I stopped cooking for the skids over a year ago. The exception was Christmas (and if you saw my blog, it was a disaster in my eyes because the skids arrived 45 minutes EARLY and proceeded to scarf down most of the food before I was even dressed and ready). 2 years ago, I made a HUGE food effort. Last year, I cooked exactly what DH specified and nothing else.
