Eureka! The Groceries!
Today is my first day of my vacation. I took "vacation" from work to paint ceilings and moulding and whatever trivial painting/cleaning shit needed to be done because I can't stand another day in Spaghetti Land. I want my house-I want my routine-I want my space!
This past weekend I was busy painting the moldings/working at the house so grocery shopping on Saturday was a bust. Sunday too. Today after I dropped BD off at Daycare, SS and I went grocery shopping (he was supposed to be with BM until Tiesday but she ended up getting him at 10:45am Friday morning and dropping him off at 6:30 ish that same night-no excuse given).
Whatever. His Uncle couldn't watch him, my gram deserves a break-whether or not she'll take it. So I talked to SO last night and since I'm 2 houses away with my grabdmother's house in between, my cousin on the other side, our neighbor who is like fam across the street, my dad and my uncle kiddy corner to my mother's house aka Spaghettti Land-we felt like it would be a good time to see how he does at home alone for a short period of time. So that was the plan.
So SS and I went grocery shopping. We've talked a lot about how to be safe if no one is home (like every afternoon for the past month on the way to get BD from daycare). I quizzed him. He answered all the questions correctly. We role-played (while buying pickles)-he seemed to have it down.
I called my gram when I got home, she said she would be in and out of my mom's house today (gram has been doing my laundry-Spaghetti Land's well is no good-and it's a lot for me with work and the kids to tote laundry back and forth-she's too old for this crap but she waits until I'm not home and steals my family's dirty socks....to wash them of course. I have given up in this department.
Anyway-Upon our return home I put all the "needs to be cold" foods in the fridge and head out to start pairing ceilings. I left a list of numbers and the phone on the counter. I also left the groceries in the middle of the kitchen floor-I would put them away when I stopped to check on SS and my mom would never know. I just didn't want to bother with them-I wanted to paint! Finally.
I had to pull my car up to one of the bedroom windows, jump from the hood to the window, where I then got stuck because SO forgot to leave me the key....
When I needed a potty break I went to grams. She just got back from checking on SS and said he was doing fine.
2hours later....
When I came down to get SS11 he was playing at the kitchen table watching Spingebob. I asked him about his day, he said it was very nice, he liked the quiet. Funny-so did I. I told him to get his shoes and pick up his Dino's we needed to go pick up BD. I told him to pack some things to play with as they both were going to stay with gram while I finished painting (getting too late for him to be home alone). He started to clean up and stopped. He said:
I tidied up the groceries for you. Can you check and make sure they're in the right spots? I put the lettuce in the fridge.
He put away the groceries! No one asked him to, it's not something I usually ask him to help with. He just did it. I'm so proud of him. He has Asperger's so this is extra huge.
I'm super duper proud of him.
Tonight he asked me to tuck him in.
All this after he came back from BM on Friday with her staying "he was afraid to tell me he had a sore throat." Nonsense. Well he wasn't shy about telling me he had diarrhea that night-so yeah I'd say he's terrified of me. Actually, it's exactly the opposite. So she can chew on that.

Great news
It's always nice when someone helps you unexpectedly and without being asked, especially when it's a skid!
