O/T Sick of my job

Ljcapp1's picture

I have to vent about this asshole I work with. We were friends up until a week ago and I no longer have anything to say to him.
Instead of taking my recommendation for the person I wanted as my assistant he gave the job to an incompetent, deer in the headlights, play dumb chick that hasn't even worked here a year.
Why you ask would he do that....? Because his buddy wants to get this girl a FT job and they thought she would be perfect for me.
EVEN THOUGH I told him she couldn't handle the job he sent out a groupwise e-mail stating this: " Based on conversations with LJCapp and Dumbass as well as Dumbasses’s previous experience with this place, I am confident we will complete a successful transition that does not adversely affect day-to-day operations.

I've told everyone, including him, that she can't handle this job and he sends this ^^^^^^ Bullshit to everyone as if I was in on the decision making process. I'm so fucking furious I could punch his face in.

You mean why I had to deactivate my Facebook?? Because YES he is the reason.
He had another girl reporting to him what we were saying on FB about work, etc.
What a bunch of assholes! Sad

I would start keeping detailed daily notes. If she screws up, you may take the fall for it. I believe there is a lot of truth to the old saying...FUCK UP...MOVE UP.

HUGS! One day at a time.

It would be great if you could send a Reply to all...

Thank you (jerk) for including my name on the email, but I would never presume to take credit when it's not due. Hiring Dumbass was due to your hard work and decision making.

I wish I had the balls to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All.ALL

I never said I thought she could do the job. In fact, when asked I listed several negative factors in her work habits that should have been a deterrent. I'm not sure why they put dumbass in this position but I had nothing to do with it.

LOLOL...Don't do it. I've gotten myself in trouble with the angry work reply to alls }:)

Document EVERYTHING. Any instructions you need to give to Dumb Chick should be in an email. CC or BCC yourself on Every.Single.One. If/when she replies with stupid questions or incorrect responses to your requests, keep documenting. At some point, you should have enough proof for a$$hole or whoever is your/his boss to show she is incapable of doing the job. Any time you have to do the work yourself, make sure that is documented.

No - she's homely and wears high water skeet pants everyday. We are a professional workplace - I mean leather walls and desks. We have several famous clients. This is a mercy hiring, as she is a friend of the boss!!!!!!!! IRRITATED

I would really think about how to handle that.

Documentation won't matter - if you're canned or held accountable for crap, no one wants to hear it. You wouldn't be taking it to court. Or, if you would... what documentation would actually be worth anything? If you just wrote a bunch of stuff down, what does that mean? Not to be too Negative-Nancy, just that unfair things happen all the time, and being right has no effect at all. (Except, of course, you sleep the sleep of the just. And cookie-calories don't count. But that's it.)

This guy has made this girl and her performance YOUR problem, in a subtle and passive-agressive way. Knowing you had valid concerns and did not want her to work for you, he's pushed her on you. This will affect your success in your job, and affect your political capital with colleagues copied on the email.... plus any clients who notice she's incompetent. While I personally always hope that the person doing such a thing is really just too dumb to be deliberately sabotaging me... it still needs to be dealt with.

TBH, I really have no idea myself. But you need some way to protect yourself, not only from this woman, but from this guy too.

Maybe a reply-all saying:

Following up on JerkFace's words of welcome, I too am excited to be working with DumbAss. My initial thoughts were to go with someone with a different set of skills. However, I put my full trust in JerkFace's judgement and know that he will be happy to assist with any growing pains.

Once again, welcome DumbAss and thank you JerkFace!

Peace out.

I really want to do this but I'm afraid I'll get fired.
I went to HR and had them document that I never said what he claims in that email, and that I DO have concerns about this woman and clients HAVE complained about her.

That's really all you can do. Did anyone there have any advice? Maybe they have experience with that.
