I'd like to take BS to Disney next year... without SKIDS
Ok... if money was no object I'd be fine with having Skids go to Disney with us. They are 'ok' pretty much. I'm the primary bread winner and I make more than twice as much as DH. Most of the time it doesn't bother me one bit. Child Support doesn't take into account my income... if it did then I wouldn't have married him. Anyway... i want to take my son to Disney next year or the year after. He's 3 now so probably a little young. And I have never gone either.
But to pay for 2 more people would almost double the cost of the trip. But I'm afraid if they don't go that BM will fill their heads with how we are taking BS and not them. Maybe I need to leave DH at home too and just take my BS lol!

this! Sounds like the best
this! Sounds like the best plan & fairest plan.
Yep- good plan.
Yep- good plan.
I think if DH and Steps want
I think if DH and Steps want to go, he pays for his side and you pay for yours. If not, take your kid alone and have a great time.
DH and I have equal income, but vacations I pay for housing and we split everything else and we do that to be fair since I do not pay towards the mortgage on this house. It balances out nicely.
He's fine with not taking
He's fine with not taking them and isn't worried about his ex. I guess if he isn't then I shouldn't be worried either!
They can always split
They can always split up.
Disney has a kid swap option. One adult and older kids can ride while the other adults stays with the younger kid. Once the ride is over, the adults swap places so that the other adult can ride(no waiting in line for the second ride) can ride with the older kids.
Disney will release their 2015 vacation packages and room only rates on July 30.
They just released their military rates today for September 2014-October 2015.
Tickets at work is a great option for discounted park passes if your company is affiliated with them. You can purchase a 7 day pass for the price of a 4 day pass.
Disney's Kids Stay and Play free is package is a huge money saver IF the kids are under 10. Ten year olds are adults in Disney's eyes.
There free dining package is another good package.
It helps if both parents
It helps if both parents agree.
But if dad refuses to take that type of trip without all of his children, that should be OK as well. AS LONG AS HE DOESN'T EXPECT HIS WIFE TO PAY FOR HIS OLDER KIDS TO GO.
As a mom, it would kill me to take one minor kid on a family trip and leave the other MINORS behind.
My DF has said if we have a child (TTC but having secondary infertility issues) he wouldn't think twice about going on vacations with just our child and leaving SDs 9,7&17 behind.
DF shares your husband's view
:? :?
DF shares your husband's view on this. He would be happy to take vacation with just our child(if we ever have one) and leave his other kids behind... If the shoe were on the other foot, I wouldn't be able to make the same nnmay mhmdecision.
I posted a similar question
I posted a similar question last year and received all sorts of negative comments about it. Of course my issues with SS were more than just financial.
Anyway, I think it is perfectly acceptable to want a Disney vacation without skids, especially if there's an age gap. And DH should come with you. Skids can go on the next one.
I've been to Disney twice,
I've been to Disney twice, FWIW.
Idk, depends on how you were planning the trip, but might it be possible to cut some corners and include the skids?
Or maybe plan a different family trip with everyone? Disney is not the be-all-and-end-all.
Otherwise, I think it depends on the ages of the kids, how often visitation is, what opportunities they get for vacations both with your family and their other family.
I wouldn't care what bm thinks, but I would care about how it might affect the kids.
Oooh oh - we are going to
Oooh oh - we are going to Disney in about 8 weeks!!
(very excited - but it's probably more of a big deal for us LOL being as we're coming from Australia!)
It's a dancing trip, my dd's 11 and 8 are part of a dance troupe that will be performing there, and at Universal etc. The planning started at the beginning of last year, and the fundraising and rehearsals etc, it's been a long process
When the skids found out we were going they told BM and she decided to take them herself last June - for an 18 day US west coast trip (we are going for 10 days including travel time, so we have 8 days there, and only one day with no dance commitments) Each child travelling has to have an adult with them - so it is myself, OH and the two dd's. I have fundraised and paid for all of it - OH contributed nothing (for those who say we should have planned to take the skids as well - it would have meant two extra adults had to come, so double the cost) OH was fine with the skids not coming.
Anyway, all we heard about for the 4 months from our trip being announced to them going on their trip was how great their holiday was going to be, how wonderful BM was blha blah blahdy blah!
Now out trip is approaching and SD14 is pissed to no end that we really aren't going to take them... I think she just expected that at some point daddy would tell them they were really coming after all. Of course my kids are going on about it quite a bit - they are excited! And they are practicing 8 hours every weekend as we come closer to going. So it's discussed a lot. They got their costumes and shoes etc last week etc.
The faces and attitude from SD are driving me insane. Any time it gets mentioned she pouts, rolls her eyes and tells OH he should make my kids shut up about it because she is "missing out" - DD11 actually pointed out to her that she went last year, and no-one was rude to her about it when she talked about it before they went, or when they got back.
To be honest, I am actually making a BIG deal about talking about it ALL the time when she is around now, she has driven me to the point where I do want to rub her nasty little nose in it. AND yes, I do make it all about how special it's going to be to actually be dancing there, performing etc, not "just going to Disney but actually getting to perform, and dance in the parade etc!!! How exciting" LOL }:) }:) }:) }:) Yes, I am a bitch and I OWN it baby.
