GAH!
SS told DH that his face broke out because BM usually washes his face for him and since her type 2 diabetes diagnosis she's been too depressed to do it. he said she also still washes his hair for him.

My DS5 showers because he wants to bathe without me in there and I won't let him sit in a tub of water unsupervised. I've peeked at him before he does a great job of lathering up. He calls me to wash his back and then he gets out. I cringe because I know he doesn't dry off completely but he's 5 and trying to be independent so I give him a little room to do his own thing.
Why is BM still washing SS's hair and face when he is 12!
Just because I don't really know...how old should they be to bathe alone? Shouldn't SS be old enough to wash his own hair and face?

I didn't think so, I think I would have freaked at that age if my dad saw me in the shower.
DH showed him how to wash his face already. There is no reason why he should be breaking out like that. It doesn't even have to be a separate thing. Just use the face wash in the shower.
His hair was greasy this morning and he took a shower last night. I checked their shower both boys have plenty of soap. So what, he just gets in there and stands under the water?

My BS7 bathes himself. He has for at least two years. I have a bath with a shower, and he will pick and choose depending on his mood. He even runs his own bath these days. I do remind him to use soap and shampoo, sometimes he will ask for help with his hair, sometimes not...depends on his mood. He is always clean when he gets out, and with the rate of soap usage I am gradually teaching him he does not need to use an entire bar each time!

so wrong... My 7yr old showers himself without issue. That would be like me scrubbing down my 10yr son. And i sure as hell wont do that! lol At 12 you should be able to wash hair and face all by your self! I didn't have my mom doing it for me when i was that age!
