Sharing food (and germs) with skids?
First of all, I want to say that this was my only gripe this past skid weekend so overall, I think everyone doing a good job of adjusting and accepting each others' presence. I'm lucky.
DH shares food with his kids, as in, he eats it right off their plate when they are done picking around at it. I know this is normal among close family members. I'm sure it was no big thing when they were an intact family. Why would it be? He and I do it all the time. However, he and I are also swapping spit in numerous other ways as well so to me, it's NOT the same thing.
These kids don't live here. They only visit EOWE. We see our co-workers more than we see these kids. They live with BM. They share her nasty germs. They pick up who knows what kinds of illnesses at school. Why the heck would he think it's ok to risk catching some nasty bug from them and passing it on to me?
Again, I understand that this is normal behavior among bios but it stops after a certain age, right? I mean, I don't eat off my parents and sisters plates anymore. We don't live together, we aren't THAT close anymore.
Is it nit-picky for me to feel this way? They aren't my kids and it kind of grosses me out.

This would be a major issue
This would be a major issue for me, both because what DH gets from SD he can then pass to me (like you said) but also because SD has cold sores and so does DH. In fact, he got them from her, who got them from BM. No thanks, the crazy germs stop right there!
ummmm this just upset my
ummmm this just upset my stomach reading it!
Now that I am older I dont
Now that I am older I dont share food or drinks with others. I did probably up into my early 20s.
I waitressed and my best friend would come in and eat and she rarely ate her whole plate. Seriously not even half. I always boxed it up and ate it later. LOL. Now I think about that and I think- GROSS!
Rarely I will eat off of my BS8. I cant remember really doing it when he was younger.
I dont really share with my DH either. Sometimes I will eat leftover food off of his plate if I know he hasnt touched it or touched it a lot. Depends on my mood.
In skid situations, I think it would gross me out more, since they aren't my kids.
My DH got mad the other day
My DH got mad the other day because I didn't want SD7 using my waterbottle. I have ONE for me that I use throughout the day. She has at least THREE of her own. On the way out the other day SD asked dad if she could bring SM waterbottle so she has water for the car ride. I didn't know until I got to the car and see my waterbottle in the backseat cupholder! So I said that's gross I've been using it all day, she needs to bring her own. He got mad, but made her give my waterbottle back so I cleaned it before using it. I think part of why I was irritated too was because he was too lazy to make her get her own and fill it up since mine was full sitting by the front door!
Nope, me neither... gross. My
Nope, me neither... gross. My BIL will eat the leftovers off his kids and gkids plates. It makes me ill as well.
i guess i'm a weird one
i guess i'm a weird one here!!! hell, we all drink straight out of the milk jug! (but NO backwashing! )
for me it's not the germs, it's a certain special ick factor. i dont care if they've put the jug up to sip out of it, but trading off of wet saliva or teeth funk is what grosses me out.
i wont eat something they've bitten off of, the thought of teeth funk scraping off onto it makes me ill. and i wont lick something they've just licked, like a spoon or their icecream cone. dh does that and it make me queasy.
lmao! yup, but never right
lmao! yup, but never right after. i give enough time for the ick to be washed down.
hey Tuff, love your new

Curious...how can you drink
Curious...how can you drink straight from the jug without getting backwash in there unless your mouth isn't on it?
My FDH does this all the time and it grosses me out. By the time he's near the end, there's got to be a lot of his backwash in there!
BTW, SD now does it too. My drinking choices are limited.
lol! just gotta close your
lol! just gotta close your lips before you start turning the jug back upright
Yeeaaahhhh...I don't trust
Yeeaaahhhh...I don't trust them to do that!
I hate when people eat of my
I hate when people eat of my plate. I think it's gross. If someone wants to taste something I'm eating, I generally put it on their bread-plate.
Regardless....DH picks off of skids plate all the time.
Again, this grosses me out regardless of who is doing it.
Oh my, I would be a mess if
Oh my, I would be a mess if SD had to come over dirty and possibly flea-infested. If her BM's place was gross, I never would have moved in together. I'm a bit of a clean-freak.
Sometimes I can tell that she hasn't showered in a day or two when coming back from her mom's, and I cringe if she's about to sit on our bed.
I have always prayed that she never come home with lice because I would freak out! Thank God this hasn't happened!
