Anyone else dieting?

I need to lose about 20 pounds so that I can gain some energy and lower my cholesterol and blood sugar. The thing that sucks is that every Friday is donut day at work so there are 5 boxes of donuts sitting in the brake room calling my name. My annoying office assistant that asks a million questions a minute is sitting at his desk eating KFC. And he is eating slow as hell and the smell is driving me crazy. I want to go over grab his bag and just inhale a few times.

Anyone got any tips on how to diet when you’re a foody? Is it possible to look at a donut and not want to make out with it when you haven’t had sweets in two weeks? (Ok I snuck a cannoli last week) but still.

I laughed so hard at this post. My DH and I are on our first real diet, and are actually going to the gym. Every Wednesday at my office, we have a meeting and they all eat loads of donuts and biscuits/croissants etc. I have been able to say no for over 2 months now.. but the first time DH sees pizza at his job he cant stop himself.. lol

Its all about self control, and personally Ive lost a few pounds and am starting to feel good, so I don't want to screw it up by eating a 400 cal/15 fat g donut.. serious look up the nutrition info THAT will help you say no.

Good luck, I know how hard this is.

I'm dieting as well. For me it's all about balance and realistic goals. I try not to focus solely on weight. I pay attention to inches as well. And I always have fruit or nuts with me to snack on when the urge hits.

Hang in there!

Dr. Oz said you can still have KFC, just pick off the yummy delicious golden crispiness if skin and nix the biscuit....

Hubby and I decided to cut calories with beverages. It's amazing how many calories you drink... coffee creamer, adult beverages, etc...

I gave up carbs. Which is tough for a person like me who could go thru an ENTIRE freshly-baked loaf of bread in a NY minute.

As it stands now, I allow myself 23 carbs a day, and also watch my caloric intake. It's kind of a spin-off of the Atkins diet; and I do buy the Atkins bars, low carb and I LOVE the choc chip cookie dough ones. They help immensely with the chocolate/sweet cravings.

I've lost 30lbs and have not see-sawed back and forth on weight.

The downer is if you have a moment of weakness and gorge out on carbs... your body will hit an all-time low. I jokingly refer to it as a 'carb coma'.

They key is lean meats, vegetables (not all, some are high carb like corn), some fruits, cheese, nuts. And LOTS of water.

I'm doing the long term changes thing... so it's slooowww going but I've successfully dieted before, I lost 100lbs 18-19, had BS, knocked the babyweight off in the 6wks, buuut, by his 1st bday I had gained at least 40 back, and when he got sick and I quit my job to be full time caregiver I gained all of it back, and then some. I look terrible. Not at all what I wanted. So I'm taking time for myself again, and cutting out things I can learn to live without. I nixed real soda, I'm drinking water and diet sierra mist, no calories, not the healthiest thing but it's carbonated and sweet when I'm craving a coke. I don't have much trouble saying no to cake and cookies, I'm allergic to chocolate and having more than a little sugar will give me and upset stomach. So it's just learning portion control, We already eat gluten and dairy free in our house.

I NEED to loose weight after a rough pregnancy... However I loathe and detest dieting, it involves eating less chocolate than I want to :jawdrop:
I also mislaid my willpower at some point and have not yet been able to find it again, if anyone sees it please have it delivered to me forthwith Blum 3

The Paleo diet works like gangbusters. I went from a size 10 to a size 2.

I've been doing this for a little over 2 years and I'm never tempted to cheat. The healthy fat in the diet keeps you satisfied.

I also dropped my bad cholesterol from 199 to 94 and raised my good cholesterol from the 74 to 88.

You will have tons of energy and feel amazing.

I suggest you google Robb Wolfe and read his book The Paleo Solution and go to his website and listen to his amazing podcasts.

The Paleo diet is soooooo amazing I can't tout it out enough!
