SO,.... ALL of this other stuff passed, the girl got her stitches out, we are ready to leave for the water park,...
And grandma calls, apparently FSD12 started her period early,... and we are going to a WATERPARK....
FDH wants we to have a talk with her that she needs to wear a tampon, whcih she never has before,...or she needs to stay out of the water,.... Yeah yippy fun vacation,...
I can see this going over great with FSD and BM when she hears about it,.... argh, I need to crawl into a hole

My first period started an hour before an extremely important swim meet, my mom told me my options sit out or tampon and really I ought to sit it out. NOPE what is this tampon thing and how does it work. I've hated pads since. So I empathize with the poor kid
Well I'm not looking forward
Well I'm not looking forward to the tampon talk,...she wears pads but,...argh,... I told FDH that I would talk about it BUT HE HAD to be in the room and say SOMETHING so it does not look like "outsider forced me to wear tampons"
Although I'm JUST as much dreading the alternative,.... she does NOT want to wear them and then she is in a horrible mood the whole time at the park because she can't get in the water,....
The vacation is tainted either way,...

He and I need a vacation without the kids,...Yes something could still go wrong, but the chances of it happening would go down by 3!

Ok,... So FSD completely shut down when we brought up tampons,....
I don't blame her for not wanting to try them honestly, but she is still insisting on going and just "not getting in the water"
Iud she were a mature girl I would not have a problem....however she is not...
She is going to pout the WHOLE time!
Not to mention FDH said to FSD "DONT WORRY OUTSIDER WILL SIT OUT WITH YOU"
yet again FDH volunteeering me for things and not discussing things with me first....

My mother used tampons in 1940s - and yes even as a totally ignorant virgin. And she told me that she literally did not know she had a vagina. She thought babies came out your belly button - at 21!!!!
Who knows what the product was like 70 years ago. She was in the military in WWII which is why she even tried them.
Tell her to go in the restroom and not to come out until she's mastered the insertion.
And tell your DH that he can sit out with her. And if he tried to tell you to do it shove some of those tampons up his ass (buy be sure to buy the big ones for that).

Mini mattresses is a great description. Fortunately I had a mother who encouraged me to use tampons early. Took me a couple of years before I was willing to try but then I never looked back.
My DD12 started her period
My DD12 started her period while at her dad's and he handled it well. When she came home I spoke with her about the different products but she was only interested in pads. Fast forward a few months later and I revisited tampons with her (just in case). This time she was very receptive. I bought her a teen box and reviewed the instructions with her and asked her if she wanted my help or if she wanted to try it in her own first. She wanted to try it on her own.
The next month I asked her if she needed more and whether she had enough at dads and she told me she only used pads at dads. I bought her a box to bring to her fathers so she wouldn't have to bring it up. DD has a great relationship w SM and is very open with her dad but I know this is all very new and uncomfortable for her. I try to keep it all very casual and natural but it's l still new.
She'll probably be over it
She'll probably be over it before you get to the water park. Fdh needs to be taught DO NOT volunteer you for ANYTHING.
