Custody appeal question

Does anybody know in a custody case what happens if an appeal is filed in Alabama? Do you go by the new order thats being appealed until the appeal takes place or do you have to go by the original order that was given at the time of the divorce?

They went by original decree for 3 years. Psycho BM just drug US thru 2 years of custody fight that she lost yesterday. Judge ruled and filed her denied but she changed the exchange day. Now we think psycho will appeal
