**UPDATE** OT Pupper Dog

UPDATE:  This weekend my dog thought he was in a grocery store LOL

We fed him anything we ate withouth the toxic stuff.  If he turned his head, it was an obvious no and we moved on.

His favorite of the weekend?  Dry cat food.  The cat was not really happy but I do have a pic of them sharing the food from the dog bowl.

I cant wait to make the pizza.  I am sure he will enjoy it.

Thank you all so much again.  I know we have all been thru it and it is hard, but as long as we can keep him the happiest he can be for the rest of his time, it will take some of the edge off.

Love and peace to all1

Little help from my fur baby parents.

Our lab is 15 will be 16 in September. He went from 65 pds to 44 pds in about a month and a half.  We took him to the vet who did blood work and said other than his levels being off in kidneys he is healthy just old.

He does have arthritis in his knees and hips and we manage his pain with prescribed medicine and some CBD oil drops at night.

Problem is trying to get weight back on him.  Not back to 65 pounds but at least to put on 5 pounds as he looks like a skeleton Sad

He has always eaten the same hard food since a puppy.  If we gave him anything else he wouldn't eat it.  He also does not have a feeding time.  We leave his bowl full and he picks thru the day.

We did start giving him some canned senior food which he ate happily for about 2 weeks now turns his nose up to it.

We have never given him people food and the vet said to try it.  He ate the scrambled eggs for about 3 days now wont eat them.  Same with ground beef.  We now feed him boiled chicken.  Just do not know how long that will last.

Rice - nope spits it all over the floor.

Veggies - hahahaha.  Keeps him mouth tight lipped and turns his head.  same with watermelon.

Does NOT like peanut butter.  Makes a pissed off face.

Will eat a little plain yogurt while we have our nightly snack.

LOVES pizza crust.

So friends, any ideas on what else to feed a picky eater?

What about fish? I cannot recall the brand, but my darling Mr P luuuuuuurved fish. Especially the salmon.

ETA: I also gave him vanilla yogurt. He had food allergies and a sensitive tummy. The yogurt helped his tummy issue and eliminated the need for pricey pills. Stonyfield brand is organic, has probiotics, and he loved it.

think about fish!  We eat it twice a week so I will cook extra for him. Thank you!

Try sweet potato mixed with some protein.  Raw eggs.  I might coOk a little extra every night and make him a mix of dinner.  Just keep out the toxic people food for dog.

Our senior pup has lost a few pounds, too. Best we can tell it's more from not absorbing nutrients than not eating.  He's picky but not super picky (had the same reaction as yours to peanut butter). A few of his favorites: the expensive Hill's Science Diet wet food. Of course he doesn't like the reasonably priced wet food.  Organ meats - he loves beef liver, heart, tongue. Also likes freeze dried liver treats. Hot dogs. Jerky, both dog treat jerky and the stuff I make at home in the dehydrator (low heat oven works, too).  Vanilla ice cream - soft serve from McDonalds is his favorite. We discovered this when the 3yo dropped her cone on the floor. Of course, this is probably not the best choice and more for calories than nutrition, but he really likes it.

LOL the ice cream.  That is a little hard as well.  He didn't like the ice cream, but he loved the cone!

We have a bag of those stinky ole dried liver treats.  Ill make sure to buy some organs on the next shopping trip.

Thank you Smile

Our old, sick dog loved canned cat food.

Seriously, even the dry.

Excellent suggestion!

OMG we are so dumb!  Yes!  Our cats food is downstairs on a table because Ben just loves to eat his food.

I think we are so stressed we didn't think of that.

And the cat will chop on his dried dog food. LOL

Thank you so much everyone!!!

I am tearing up because we are so stressed seeing our normally very healthy pup age before our eyes.  We know its just a matter of time, but he is as we call - the good kid.  Hard to see it.

I'm so sorry your pup isn't feeling well. My dogs are my babies and I know the stress they can bring. Do you try the rx canned dog food from the vet? It's a little expensive but try mixing it in with his..

SO tends to spoil our golden to eat (she can't graze because of our lab and sometimes she will just stare at you) so will mix anything in her food.. she likes greek yogurt! I would try broth too!

Not sure if this has been mentioned but can you try mixing in some cheese/gravy/eggs/meats in with his dry kibble or wet food?

I fed my aged shih-tzu/poodle boiled chicken and de-fatted gravy rubbed into her kibble. She was good with that for about a year before she refused food altogether. Having gone through the anxiety and stress that you're suffering, I wish that I could ((((HUG))))) you! ♥️
