OT - Eff Off Friday
Hello, Friday! I've been ready for you to arrive since Tuesday afternoon. 3-day weekends are nice, but then I spend 4 days trying to cram in 5 days worth of work and usually end up doing he equivalent of 6. Ugh.
Eff off to:
- Cancer. *diablo*
- The bruise on my foot hurting more today. The swelling has gone down and the pain has gone up. *dash1*
- Coworkers who constantly find excuses to put off doing their job...until they are told *I* can do it. Suddenly, they are aaaaaall, "Hey, Ani, I'm ready to work on that flugelbinder usage report!"
- King Pita trying to set up a zoom with me today. Sorry (not sorry), KP, but that's not happening. I have a critical meetings at ALL of the times you requested (yes!!!) and am not about to give up my lunchtime for you. I'd rather drop that saucepan on my other foot. KP will have to wait until next week. And Bad Aniki may spike her coffee before that meeting.
- The following types of people:
- Toxic
- Mean
- Narcs
- Busybodies
Wishing you a stress-free and enjoyable weeked! *give_rose*

EFF OFF to cancer. Funeral
EFF OFF to cancer. Funeral tomorrow for a friend who lost her mother.
EFF OFF to DH coming home after being away for 4 days over the holiday and coming home with a bad sinus infection. Thank goodness he isn't one of the whiney man child type.
Have a Happy Friday and weekend steppers!
Sorry for your loss (hugs)
Sorry for your loss (hugs)
I'm so sorry for your loss,
I'm so sorry for your loss, classy. A close friend of ours father just passed. DH and I would very much like to attend, but cannot because...the other C word.
Hope your DH's sinus infection clears up quickly!
Sorry for your loss
Hope the funeral is meaningful and personal to the family
Thank you Accidental, Canine
Thank you Accidental, Canine and Aniki - she was a beautiful woman, big heart and took care of the community.
Eff off
Co-workers who wait until the 11th hour before you leave for vacation crawling out from under a rock demanding deliverables.
But...it's Friday and I three more workdays before Alaska!
Caninelover, what happens if
Caninelover, what happens if you can't get them done? I wouldn't be busting my butt for that kind of nonsense...
Hope you have a wonderful time!!!
It's doubly hard because we
It's doubly hard because we have two people currently out on paternal leaves and one open position. Basically I am putting in some coverage for any emergencoes but not much else that can be done except tell people to wait. Which will make the Monday I return super fun....NOT.
Last night, I wrote down a
Last night, I wrote down a short list of criticals I needed to complete today. I have completed exactly ONE because people keep sucking me into BS. And it's BS because they do not want to do the work when "Aniki knows it". Aniki is like an accountant at the height of tax season. Add to that, I made the mistake of turning on Skype today. What IS it with people who hit Enter after every typed line? Type the entire thing because that beeping is driving me up a tree. Gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
Even worse
Are the people who take literally 10 minutes to type - and it shows you the whole time that they are 'typing' - and the response is one lame sentence. That always makes me wonder what they REALLY typed before deleting it and re-typing their lame sentence. LOL.
WOW
Enjoy Alaska Canine. What an adventure. I hear the men are hot up in cold Alaska. If you find any hot single ones, with no kids, especially a DD and no bitchy BM tell him Stepdrama is looking
Eff off to Fridays , we really need an extra day on the weekend and I declare Friday as such!
Stepdrama, I would like a day
Stepdrama, I would like a day between Saturday and Sunday! Or how about a 2-day work week and a 5-day weekend with the same pay? *dirol*
Aniki
Ill take a day between Sat and Sun and raise you a two day work week
You're on, darlin'! *drinks*
You're on, darlin'! *drinks*
I'll definitely keep an eye
I'll definitely keep an eye out. And if SO asks I can honestly say I'm looking out for a friend hahahaha
Thanks so much. We have to produce negative COVID test next week so fingers crossed!
Have a wonderful time and
Have a wonderful time and enjoy everything Alaska has to offer. I lived in Anchorage for a few years and loved ALL of it!
EFF OFF
to management... we have a new worker coming this Monday. Do we know his/her name? Nope. Do we know where he/she will be sitting? Nope. Do we know who is preparing the necessary equipment/logins? Nope. Do we know who will be training said new employee? Take a guess....
(No subject)
and I thought mine were bad.
Sounds completely
Sounds completely disorganized! Ugh, poor new person and poor you!
It gets better
Boss will be out Monday and Tuesday. Only found out the new person's name through linkedin!!!
OMG
LinkedIn - hahaha...that is ridiculous!!
Eff off to group projects in
Eff off to group projects in graduate-level courses. I have two classes this quarter, and while I understand needing a group for the capstone class, there is no need for one in the other. We formed a group to write a two-page paper on a subject we discussed for over an hour in class. I don't see the point, and I say that as someone who provides adult education as part of my job.
The latter sounds...
The latter sounds... redundant. How much longer do you have until you graduate?
November is when I'll be done
November is when I'll be done with this program, and then I have to decide if I want to get my master's degree. Between some work stuff and IVF, I'm not sure if going into a master's program will be smart right now. If I don't, I'll probably look at some other certificates that would be useful.
LD, I wish I was as well
LD, I wish I was as well-organized and logical as you! *kiss2*
group projects
are a way of achieving for the slackers in the group.,
I think you are right
I think you are right to give yourself some head space for IVF. I've heard its draining.
Group projects are the worst
Group projects are the worst and for some reason, grad programs love them. I remember early on in the first semester of my masters when everyone knew the people in our program who did not pull their weight and desperately tried to avoid working with them on the next group project. That and the time I went to clarify some information in a group paper that one person had submitted only to discover that he had cut and pasted entire paragraphs from websites and passed them off as his own work...
Eff off to work
New company who took over old company are always going on about how great they are. Today the employee survey came out with engagment scores of 55%. They are messaging this like this is amazing. Its not. In my crazy old business, my division was being sold to keep the rest of the group solvent so you can imagine the stress levels. The engagement scores were 77%.
This new place just doesn't align with my values. They make big extravegant gestures like giving every employee share options but are mean about the regular stuff. I mean there is no use in having share options that may or may not be worth something in 3 years time, if you could be terminated at any point. I'd be fine but some of the juniors would be FUBAR and this doesn't sit right with me.
TASM, that environent sounds
TASM, that environent sounds unsettling, draining, and toxic. {{hugs}}
Thanks
I'm pretty fine but am job hunting like a crazy person. Its a slow process at my level.
Ugh!
Ugh!
My old company was just like
My old company was just like this. Big sweeping platitudes about the benefits and workplace but the managers were terrible and only managed through fear (i.e. we can get rid of you whenever). Very mean-spirited where narcs and butt-kissers thrived and worker bees suffered. Glad I'm not there anymore.
I'm doing a mandatory online training
Its on performance management. Old company manta was do your best for the customer. New company mantra is make sure new company always wins. This is the difference in a nut shell.
Eff off to some of DH's
Eff off to some of DH's coworkers who are full-on bullies. My former workplace was full of bullies as well...starting to wonder if it's just the "culture" where I live, a region of the US that has a reputation for passive-aggressiveness. I've experienced a lot of workplace gaslighting and now DH is experiencing the same.
Yuck! Many years ago, I
Yuck! Many years ago, I worked with a large group of women. Not a day went by that multiple cats didn't verbally tear shreds into one or more others. Even keeping your head down and doing your job didn't keep you out of the line of fire. Hands down, THE most toxic work environment I had the misfortune to be in.
I'm dealing with a bully
I'm dealing with a bully today too. Eff off to him in particular.
I find it hilarious, though, that he hates everyone in my office, me included, except for one person. And we've got that person on a "performance improvement plan" because we can't just fire her.
EFF OFF to these "F" words
To Fleas.
To Feral Forger.
Feral Forger and her Fleas
Feral Forger and her Fleas are Forever blockes....
Eff OFF late -
Eff OFF late -
* Working like crazy and training a new person, whom I am supervising. I like all this but this week it's just been exhausting.
* Had to commute in every day this week due to new person. How did I do this prior to COVID? It's not fun at all and sucks hours away from non-work time.
* Because of commute I was suddenly riding my bike every day, which is a YAY! But I forgot I had not been doing it every day for over a year and thus, stressed my middle back (thanks to backpack). My mid-back seizes up now and then, very painful. I switched to my other bike and panniers today and it's been better. But I have a long ride scheduled tomorrow...which looks like someone is cancelling it.
* Annoying time of month and cramps the last two days. Kinda tired of it. Kinda cranky from it.
That said I am LEAVING WORK RIGHT NOW. Runnnnnnnnnning.....
Cover, I so enjoy the extra
Cover, I so enjoy the extra time I have with no commute. It is THE reason I've expanded my cooking skills.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
