OT - Thankful Thursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

We're one day closer to the weekend. Woo hoo! Why is it that every week with a holiday ends up having about 8 days of work crammed into 4 instead of 5 days? Sheesh. I've nuked my coffee so many times today, I'm starting to worry what that does to my coffee. Will a little liquid hand form, reach out, grab me by the wrist, and drag my hand over to pick up the mug before my coffee cools again?

Today I am thankful for:

  • Having a job. Things have been cuh-razy with the reorganization and it's getting crazier every day. My only hope is that at the end of the reorg, I still have a job!
  • My DH. I was sooo tired last night that he suggested we order from my favorite fish place for dinner so I could chillax. Nom nom nom...
  • My Dad. He comes home tomorrow and I can't wait to see him!!!
  • You STalkers. Love my STalk family. *give_rose*

Thirsty Thursday is ramping up. The blueberries are getting ripe and I am ready for a Blueberry Mojito or Blueberry Lemonade made with blueberries handpicked from the yard. Blueberry pancakes for breakfast soon! *yahoo*

Hmmm.  I'm feeling my stupid back injury today so I'm going to have to dig deep.

  • I'm thankful that I have the resources to just go to the physio without worrying
  • I'm thankful I managed to completely, 100% avoid the football (socccer) nonsence last night.  [European equivalent on of the soccer world cup underway currently]

Boy, those blueberry mojitos sound good.

TASM, I also have days when I have to dig deep. {{{gentle hugs}}}

They ARE good! I grow the mint, so it's fresh from the plant. I like to make mine with pineapple rum for a little extra zing. Biggrin

I am thankful I got to ride my bike to work for the first time since April - my hip felt good, I took it easy. I'll do some mixed commute on the way home (via bus/bike) so I don't stress it too much going up hills.

Thankful for lovely summer weather and gorgeous mornings - love getting outside EARLY.

Thankful for working with some truly wonderful people. It makes working a little easier.

Good way to start the day! Yay! I am seriously considering buying a bike. Need to look into that.

Hey, Ani,

Your comment:

resonated with me. My beloved ‘Mummy’ died two years ago, at ninety-six, leaving Dad a widower in his early nineties (my mother was a few years older than Dad). Although Dad is our stepfather, he is dearer to his six stepkids than any bio father could ever claim to be.

Dad still lives in the family home but manages quite nicely with daily visits from his ‘children’, nightly phone calls (the responsibility of our youngest sibling), home-cooked meals and more. Every evening, I make an extra plate and freeze it; my DH delivers the packaged meals to Dad once a month.

Dad was childless and embraced his ‘adopted’ kids with an enthusiasm and delight that could not have been more evident if he’d sired us all. Yeah, good fathers are a special breed, step or otherwise. Good

Hey, grannyd!

It's been almost 11 years since my Mom passed. Dad had never lived alone until that time (fro big family to military to married life), so it was a big change for him and he was so lonely that I was terribly worried about him. I'm so glad he and my SM found love!

I'm 56yo and still a Daddy's Girl. He has been my moral compass all of my life. If the man told a lie or did something dishonest, he'd probably catch on fire. If I can manage to be half the man he is, I'll consider myself to be doing pretty good.
